Soyeon

Soyeon had represented Cube Entertainment in the Chinese reality TV program ‘Produce 101’, reports News Inside. She had also participated in Mnet’s reality TV rap competition, ‘Unpretty Rapstar’, where she finished third, reports Naver.

Miyeon

According to an interview with Cube Entertainment, Miyeon was a trainee under YG Entertainment for five years, and was initially slated to debut in Blackpink. She left after quitting YG Entertainment to join Cube.

Could have been part of Blackpink

The same interview goes on to say that Miyeon was cut from Blackpink's final lineup for breaking a rule, which reduced the group from its original five members to the four we know today.

Minnie

According to iQiyi, Minnie was originally from Thailand and had joined Cube Entertainment after being urged by her mother to audition for the company to be a K-pop star when Cube Entertainment was holding international auditions in Thailand back in 2014.

Yuqi

Just like Minnie, Yuqi, is one of three members of (G)I-DLE who are not originally from Korea as she is a Chinese citizen. She participated in Cube Entertainment’s casting auditions when they were held in Beijing and passed, reports iQiyi.

Shuhua

Shuhua is (G)I-DLE’s Taiwanese member. According to an interview with Cube Entertainment, Shuhua decided to pursue a career in K-pop after being inspired by Hyuna, and she passed Cube Entertainment auditions in Taiwan.

(G)I-DLE’s hits

As (G)I-DLE, the group is known for hits such as ‘Latata’, ‘Uh-Oh’, ‘HWAA’, and ‘Oh My God’.

International collaborations

Did you know?: Members of (G)I-DLE are part of the online virtual girl group, owned by Riot Games, ‘K/DA’?

Voicing virtual popstars

The group has often combined K-pop and the American music market. Miyeon and Soyeon worked alongside American music artists Madison Beer and Jaira Burns to voice virtual superstars, Dazed reports.

Making history

The collaboration with ‘K/DA’ earned not just Madison Beer and Jaira Burns, but (G)I-DLE members Miyeon and Soyeon a platinum music award for the song ‘Pop/Stars’ by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)!

Collab with Jennifer Lopez

The collaboration marked by ‘K/DA’ would not be the last of (G)I-DLE’s collab in the American markets, as in 2024, Allkpop reported in March that (G)I-DLE has scored a collab with one of America’s biggest stars, Jennifer Lopez!

A remix together

The collaboration between (G)I-DLE and Jennifer Lopez is on a remix of Lopez’s song, ‘This Time Around’, released on March 14. Korea JoongAng Daily reports that despite being a remix, the song’s lyrics and composition have been reworked by the K-pop group and Lopez together.
