Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal will win Euro 2024, but why?

Portugal will kick off their Euro 2024 campaign on the 18th of June against the Czech Republic. Cristiano Ronaldo and his compatriots will be chasing a second European title in Germany, following their triumph at Euro 2016.

At 39 years old, many believe this could be Cristiano Ronaldo's final tournament for his national side, and here's why it could be his best yet!

Since taking over from Portugal's legendary manager, Fernando Santos, who led Portugal to Euro 2016 victory, Roberto Martinez has made the Portuguese team seem like an unstoppable force.

Martinez began his term as manager before the European Championship qualification campaign started and led Portugal to a perfect ten out of ten record, conceding two goals in those ten games.

According to FourFourTwo, Portugal is the only team to go into the European Championships with a perfect qualifying record, becoming the eighth national team to qualify for the Euros with a 100% record.

Cristiano Ronaldo comes into the tournament after 'one of the best seasons' in his career, scoring 35 goals in 31 games for Al Nassr in the league and becoming the first player to become top scorer in five different leagues.

The footballing GOAT has shown he isn't slowing down yet and has become a vibrant part of Martinez's plans for Portugal, scoring ten times in nine European qualifiers.

According to Planet Football, Martinez said: "A player who scores 42 goals in 41 games (in all comps) for his club shows continuity, a physical ability to always be fit and quality in front of goal that we like and need."

Before winning the European Championships in 2016, Ronaldo was again in hot scoring form, banging in 35 goals in 36 games in La Liga and netting 51 times in 48 games in all competitions. Will his rich scoring form prove vital again this campaign?

Ronaldo is surrounded by two of the best attacking midfielders in the world, Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes, who both come off trophy-winning seasons for their clubs.

Transfermarkt reports Bernando produced six goals and nine assists for Manchester City, and Fernandes scored ten goals and provided eight assists in a struggling Manchester United team. The service they provide will be what wins them the tournament.

Manchester City's Ruben Dias and Joao Cancelo are expected to join legendary defender Pepe and United's Diego Dalot in the back four. Fulham's Joao Palhinha will be in the anchor to let PSG's Vitinha, Diego Jota, Matheus Nunes, Joao Felix, and Rafael Leao free.

The Portuguese team faces a relatively easy group at the 2024 European Championships, facing the Czech Republic, Turkey, and Georgia in Group F.

Ronaldo and Portugal should pass through the group easily, as they did in qualification. With a fully fit squad, Portugal has the perfect balance of quality, experience, and youth to go all the way in the competition.
