The £85 million signing Liverpool and Arne Slot want to steal from Real Madrid
Arne Slot will take the reins at Liverpool next year, with the Dutchman looking to write a new chapter in the club's rich history.
He will succeed Jurgen Klopp, who has built a team that has won everything there is to win in club football, but needs a fresh dose of quality. With that in mind, Liverpool have been linked with a top European defensive talent.
According to GiveMeSport and other sources, Liverpool are targeting Benfica's Antonio Silva, a 20-year-old Portuguese defender regarded as one of the world's top defensive talents.

Despite his young age, Silva already has plenty of experience, having made 94 appearances for Benfica's first team, scoring seven goals in the process, per Transfermarkt. He has also been capped nine times for his country.
However, it won't be easy for Slot to bring Silva to Anfield, as his contract in the Portuguese capital runs until mid-2027.
Liverpool will have to splash the cash to sign Silva, with GiveMeSport quoting a price tag of £85m (around €100m/$108m).
Liverpool are in the market for a new defender as Joel Matip's contract expires this summer. Ibrahim Konate has also not played his best football this season, with GiveMeSport's Matt Smith suggesting he will "need to improve" to keep his starting position under Slot.
In Liverpool's defence, Silva would be partnered by Virgil van Dijk, on whom Arne Slot still seems to be relying one hundred per cent.
Liverpool are not the only club to be linked with Silva, with Manchester United and Real Madrid also mentioned in rumours of the Portuguese's new destination.
