Predicting the Premier League: How the final table will look, according to a supercomputer

In what may be the next best thing to a crystal ball, a supercomputer has run the numbers and come up with a final table prediction for the Premier League after looking at the performances from the first few rounds.

Depending on who you support, the Premier League season can either bring endless joy or tortuous frustration. Depending on which camp you’re in, this could be like ripping the band aid off early or an unwelcome spoiler – so read on at your own risk.

Of course, the Premier League season is long and anything can happen – especially if key players go down – but mathematically speaking, this is how the Premier League should play out this season according to the supercomputer’s results, which was developed by bettingexpert.com

In news that will shock no one, Manchester City are predicted to take out the top place again, for a record-breaking four years in a row. We probably didn’t need a supercomputer to tell us that, but there you go.

Arsenal are predicted to take out the second spot, just like they did last year.

Despite a strong win against Newcastle over the weekend, Liverpool are expected to find themselves in third at the end of the year.

A rejuvenated Manchester United under Erik ten Hag are predicted to take out the fourth spot, doing just enough to qualify for the Champions League.

Heartbreaking news for Newcastle, who have been promising so much on paper, but are still expected to come up short and take out the fifth spot. 

After Chelsea’s disastrous last season, anything above 12th place will be welcome news, so maybe sixth place is a good result here?

The now Harry Kane-less Tottenham aren’t expected to set the Premier League on fire this season, and seventh place is looming – according to the prediction.

The Tom Brady-backed Aston Villa aren’t predicted to take on his winning record just yet and wind up in the eighth position.

Brighton’s record-breaking singing of forward Joao Pedro isn’t expected to change the game too much for them either, with the Seagulls expected to take the ninth spot on the ladder. But who knows what will happen once he’s settled in and gets a regular start?

After their historic Europa League title win, West Ham are surprisingly expected to settle for 10th.

Two more London clubs, Brentford and Crystal Palace, will follow them in 11th and 12th respectively and somewhat predictably. 

Thanks to their win over Everton, Wolverhampton are predicted for the 13th spot.

While nothing much to report for Nottingham Forest, as they seemingly will have to settle for 14th.

Fulham are expected to slide and find themselves in 15th.

Despite a poor start, losing the first two games of the season, the Vincent Kompany-led Burnley will apparently avoid relegation with a 16th spot finish.

Bournemouth will also just narrowly avoid the Premier League axe with their predicted 17th place finish.

So it’s bad news for Everton, who are predicted to face relegation for the first time since 1950 with their 18th place finish.

Despite their history-making entry to the league this season, it looks like Luton’s time in the Premier League will be shortlived as they are expected to get the chop after this season with their 19th place result.

And it looks like Sheffield United will be back in the Championship once again with a predicted dismal 20th spot finish. We find this a little eyebrow-raising though as they showed some promise in their last 2-1 loss to titans Man City.
