Premier League: New signings set to play a starring role in the 2024/25 season
We’re on the cusp of a new season of the Premier League, and with it brings a host of brand new faces to England’s top football competition. Let’s take a look at some of the new faces that we think will have a huge impact on their arrival in the Prem. All fees and starts sourced from Transfermarkt unless otherwise stated.
17-year-old Estevao Willian arrives at Chelsea from Brazilian side Palmeiras with some enormous hype. Already being compared to Messi, the young forward has been described by Sao Paulo icon Rogerio Ceni as 'unmarkable' – high praise indeed. This is probably why the Blues have splashed out to secure his talents, and have reportedly signed a deal worth €60 million (£51 million/$65.4 million) for the Brazillian, according to The Standard,
Brazillian winger Savinho was thrust into the spotlight as he played a major role in getting Girona into the top three in La Liga, a surprise rise from a side that had just finished 10th on the ladder in the previous season. While Man City is loaded with class at every position, Savinho managed to dribble past the best of the best in La Liga, so we expect him to become a huge star in the Premier League.

The Dutch forward played a key role in Bologna's unexpected rise in Serie A last season, netting 12 goals as his team secured their first-ever spot in the Champions League. After a lackluster stint at Bayern Munich in his rookie years, the 22-yeard old comes primed for the Prems after playing at the Euros over the summer, including a run in the Netherlands' semifinal loss to England. His deal is worth €42.2 million (£36.54 million/$46.4 million).
West Ham have taken an interesting approach with their signings this year, opting for experienced heads over precocious young talent (more on that later too). This has ultimately led them to recruit 31-year-old German international striker Niclas Fullkrug, who arrives fresh following a quarter-final, two-goal run at the Euros, and a Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund, proving he knows how to get a team to the top.
Bournemouth have opted for a different approach, and have secured a rising talent in the shape of 19-year-old Dutch defender Dean Huijsen from Italian giants Juventus. Huijsen joined the Cherries for a fee of €15 million (£12.8 million/$16.4 million). Huijsen was particularly impressive during his loan stint at Roma in the last half of the season, notching up 13 appearances.
Tottenham have also focused on youth with the signing of 18-year-old Lucas Bergvall. Bergvall made a compelling case to start the new season after an outstanding pre-season. The Swedish midfielder impressed with his creativity and ball control, delivering a standout performance as a half-time substitute in a 2-1 friendly loss against Bayern Munich. He arrived from Swedish club Djurgarden for a fee close to €10 million (£8.5 million/$10.9 million).
Ipswich are gearing up for their first season back in the Premier League in 22 years after consecutive promotions, and they'll be counting on their new signings to help them stay up. English striker Liam Delap has joined from Manchester City in a deal worth €23.4 million (£20 million/$25.6 million). Though not technically a Premier League debutant as he has made two appearances with the Citizens, he'll be itching to make it a regular thing at Ipswich.
Though not lacking in defense already with the likes Saliba and White, Arsenal have strengthened their back line even more with the whopping €49 million (£42 million/$54 million) acquisition of Italy's Riccardo Calafiori. Also arriving from Bologna, Calafiori proved to be a terror for attackers in the last season.

Another ‘exceptional’ young talent, Guiu has been plucked from Barcelona’s La Masia academy. The 17-year-old Spaniard found himself suddenly in demand after being called up to the top side due to an injury, and promptly scored a goal in 33 seconds into his late-game debut against Athletic Bilbao. Despite the hype, he arrives in Chelsea with a relatively modest transfer fee of €5.8 million (£5 million/$6.4 million).
Manchester United will be hoping Leny Yoro will work some magic on their backline, after procuring the French defender’s services from Lille with a deal with almost €69.2 million (£60 million/$76.8 million), factoring in extras, according to Sky Sport. The 18-year-old was something of a revelation in Ligue 1 last year, making 41 appearances in all competitions and scoring three goals.
United entered the transfer market with defence on their minds, and from the get-go had their sights set on Dutchman de Ligt. The center back, who represents The Netherlands at the international level, has immense experience in Europe. Not only has the 24-year-old enjoyed impressive stints at Bayern Munich, where he arrives from, but also Italian giants Juventus and Amsterdam-based Ajax, where he played under current United coach Erik ten Hag. That’s probably why he comes at a €50 million (£42.7 millon/$55 million) price tag, factoring in extras.
Another ‘old boy’ that’s found himself in East London, 30-year-old Rodriguez is a proven winner and was part of the World Cup-winning Argentina side. While his last four years with Real Betis in La Liga have not been remarkable, his experience at the top level of the game is bound to shine in a team that’s more prepared to trouble the top four. He arrives on a free transfer.
Are there any new Premier League players you think are going to set the Prem on fire this season?
