Power rankings

We will be analyzing the Aramco F1 power rankings, which were determined by a panel of five judges, with each member assessing every driver on the grid, reports Express.

10. Nico Hulkenberg

The German driver for HAAS has been a great revelation this year, as he consistently fights for the points. He currently ranks 10th in both the power rankings and in the driver's championship. A drastic change compared to last year, where the German finished 16th on the grid.

9. Franco Colapinto

The young Argentine speed demon has been involved with F1 since 2023 and has proven to be a very valuable driver so far. He ranks 9th in the power rankings with only 5 points in the driver's championship. Expect more to come from the young Williams driver.

8. George Russell

George Russell has endured a complicated season over the Mercedes paddock, however, the British driver stands on 192 points in the driver's championship. He is currently ranked 8th in the F1 power rankings.

7. Carlos Sainz

Carlos Sainz wraps up his last season with Ferrari with great numbers before giving up his seat to Lewis Hamilton. The Spaniard stands on 244 points (5th) in the driver's championship and is currently ranked 7th in the power rankings.

6. Oliver Bearman

The newly arrived HAAS driver has carved himself a spot in the power rankings despite only having 7 points under his name (18th). The British driver ranks 6th in the 2024 F1 power rankings, as the little he has shown already is extremely promising.

5. Oscar Piastri

Oscar Piastri has taken his McLaren to new heights and is currently sitting on 262 points for the driver's championship, ranking the Australian driver 5th in the power rankings.

4. Charles Leclerc

Leclerc has experienced heavy criticism from fans and other drivers for his questionable driving at times, however, the Ferrari driver ranks 3rd in the driver's champions with 307 points under his belt. He is ranked 4th in the power rankings.

3. Liam Lawson

Liam Lawson has been under the spotlight for his brave yet aggressive driving style. The RB Honda driver is not shy to race, often pushing the very limits... Lawson ranks 20th in the driver's championship with only 4 points, however, he ranks 3rd in the power rankings. His impressive talent on the tarmac has not been unnoticed.

2. Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen, nicked 'The Flying Dutchman', is arguably one of the most talented drivers on the grid, with exceptional race management. The Dutch driver ranks 2nd in the 2024 power rankings, but could very well be first. He currently stands on 393 points, leading the driver's championship.

1. Lando Norris

Taking the 1st place of the power rankings in Lando Norris. The McLaren driver is leading the push to dethrone Max Verstappen, creating a very competitive atmosphere on the grid. Norris currently stands with 331 points in the driver's championship, still short of Max. With three races left, the British driver need a miracle to snatch the championship away from Verstappen.

Not an easy year for Lewis

Lewis Hamilton struggled to shine in the Mercedes F1 W15 E car, falling drastically behind. The British driver secured only four podiums throughout the year.

Out of the top 10?!

However, it's rather shocking to find Lewis Hamilton out of the power ranking list, nowhere within the top 10 in Formula 1.

Similar struggles for Fernando Alonso

We have witnessed similar struggles with Fernando Alonso during the 2024 season, where the Spaniard struggled to keep up with the rest of the grid. The AMR24 has struggled drastically in comparison to the 2023 Aston Martin, with a Mercedes AMG motor.

Better numbers in 2023

During the 2023 season, Aston Martin finished in 5th in the constructor's champions with 280 points, only 22 points shy of fourth place. Alonso cashed in 8 podiums and finished the year 4th on the driver standings with 206 points.
