Formula 1 Power rankings: The top 10 drivers in 2024
Although the 2024 Formula 1 champion has been decided, there is still plenty to settle in Formula 1 before the season ends. The best driver of 2024 has already been decided, but that doesn't stop us from ranking the rest of the grid, or the top 10 anyway!
We are using Aramco's FA Power Rankings as a basis for our list, which the Express explains is determined by a panel of five judges, each member assessing every driver on the grid before coming to a consensus ranking.
The German driver for HAAS has been a great revelation this year, as he consistently fights for the points. He currently ranks 10th in both the power rankings and in the driver's championship. A drastic change compared to last year, where the German finished 16th on the grid.

The young Argentine speed demon has been involved with F1 since 2023 and has proven to be a very valuable driver so far. He ranks 9th in the power rankings with only 5 points in the driver's championship. Expect more to come from the young Williams driver.
George Russell has endured a complicated season over the Mercedes paddock, however, the British driver stands on 217 points in the driver's championship. He is currently ranked 8th in the F1 power rankings.
Carlos Sainz wraps up his last season with Ferrari with great numbers before giving up his seat to Lewis Hamilton. The Spaniard stands on 259 points (5th) in the driver's championship and is currently ranked 7th in the power rankings.
The newly arrived HAAS driver has carved himself a spot in the power rankings despite only having 7 points under his name (18th). The British driver ranks 6th in the 2024 F1 power rankings, as the little he has shown already is extremely promising.
Oscar Piastri has taken his McLaren to new heights and is currently sitting on 268Max V points for the driver's championship, ranking the Australian driver 5th in the power rankings.
Leclerc has experienced heavy criticism from fans and other drivers for his questionable driving at times, however, the Ferrari driver ranks 3rd in the driver's champions with 319 points under his belt. He is ranked 4th in the power rankings.
Liam Lawson has been under the spotlight for his brave yet aggressive driving style. The RB Honda driver is not shy to race, often pushing the very limits... Lawson ranks 20th in the driver's championship with only 4 points, however, he ranks 3rd in the power rankings. His impressive talent on the tarmac has not been unnoticed.

Despite putting up a great fight for the Formula 1 Driver's Championship, Norris couldn't do enough with his McLaren's competitiveness early in the season, causing him to be too far behind. The young Englishman will be back, and next tie, more prepared for a championship battle.
Max Verstappen has won his fourth Formula One World Championship following the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The Dutchman started the 2024 season in imperious form before finding himself in an unexpected title fight. He refound his championship form and ground out enough points to get over the line. He's one of the best drivers of all time, and still has many years left in the sport if he chooses!
Lewis Hamilton struggled to shine in the Mercedes F1 W15 E car, falling drastically behind. The British driver secured only five podiums throughout the year.
However, it's rather shocking to find Lewis Hamilton out of the power ranking list, nowhere within the top 10 in Formula 1.
We have witnessed similar struggles with Fernando Alonso during the 2024 season, where the Spaniard struggled to keep up with the rest of the grid. The AMR24 has struggled drastically in comparison to the 2023 Aston Martin, with a Mercedes AMG motor.
During the 2023 season, Aston Martin finished in 5th in the constructor's champions with 280 points, only 22 points shy of fourth place. Alonso cashed in 8 podiums and finished the year 4th on the driver standings with 206 points.
