Team USA was pushed all the way by China at the Paris 2024 Olympics, with both nations finishing on 40 golds. The US tops the table regardless, winning 126 medals compared to just 91 by the Chinese.

The US has claimed 126 total medals, 40 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze.

Athletics: 34

The athletics events proved fruitful for the USA once again, taking home 34 medals, including 14 golds in the track and field events.

3x3 basketball: 1

Cierra Burdick, Dearica Hamby, Rhyne Howard, Hailey van Lith battled hard to give the US their first basketball medal of the Paris Games, claiming bronze in the 3x3 category.

Diving: 1

Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook claimed a silver medal in the women's springboard 3m synchronized diving competition.

 

Surfing: 1

Caroline Marks faced stiff competition and, at times, difficult conditions to beat Tatiana Weston-Webb from Brazil to win surfing gold.

Road cycling: 2

Kristen Faulkner stormed to victory in the women's road race after Chloe Dygert claimed a bronze medal in the women's individual time trial earlier in the Games.

Mountain bike: 1

In a race dominated by Pauline Ferrand-Prevot, Haley Batten produced the US' best-ever finish in the mountain biking competition, per NBC Sports, by claiming silver.

Rugby 7s: 1

The US women's rugby 7s team upset Australia in the bronze medal match, pulling off a last-second victory to defeat one of the favorites for the gold.

Fencing: 4

Jacqueline Dubrovich, Lee Kiefer, Lauren Scruggs and Maia Mei Weintraub combined to win the women's team foil event after Lee Keifer beat teammate Lauren Scruggs to win the individual event, making it a fantastic Olympics for the pair.

 

 

Artistic Gymnastics: 9

Simone Biles was her excellent self en route to winning the individual all-round gymnastics event, with Sunisa Lee taking bronze. The pair were also part of the team event gold. The US' gymnastics total is now three golds, 1 silver and five bronzes. 

Skateboarding: 3

Tom Schaar put on an electric performance to win silver in the men's park competition. Elsewhere, Jagger Eaton and Nyjah Huston were among the favorites for the men's street skateboarding, with both producing excellent performances to win silver and bronze respectively.

Swimming: 28

Katie Ledecky and Bobby Finke brought home individual golds in the 800m and 1500m races respectively, while golds in the women and mixed 4x100m medleys took the US past Australia to finish atop the swimming medal charts.

Freestyle BMX: 1

Perris Benegas pulled off a fantastic ride to win the silver medal in the women's BMX freestyle competition.

Canoe slalom: 1

Evy Leibfarth held on to claim a fantastic bronze medal in the women's C1 event, with her early time putting pressure on her fellow competitors.

Rowing: 2

Nick Mead, Justin Best, Michael Grady and Liam Corrigan competed in the men's four, winning the US's first rowing gold since 2016 by NBC Sports. The US team also took bronze in the men's eight.

Golf: 1

Scottie Scheffler saw off the challenge of Team GB's Tommy Fleetwood to take gold in a dramatic finale.

Equestrian: 1

Karl Cook, Laura Kraut, McLain Ward took silver in the jumping team event to claim the US' sole medal in the equestrian events.

Tennis: 2

Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul claimed bronze in the men's doubles while Austin Krajicek, Rajeev Ram took home silver, losing to the Australian pair of John Peers and Matthew Ebden.

Archery: 2

Brady Ellison lost out on an Olympic gold medal by five millimeters according to USA Today, with South Korea's Kim Woo-Jin claiming top spot. Casey Kaufhold had previously teamed up with Ellison in the mixed team event, where they finished third.

Triathlon: 1

The United States snuck past Great Britain in a photo finish to claim silver in the mixed triathlon relay, losing out on gold by one second to Germany.

Sailing: 1

Ian Barrows and Hans Henken were able to secure bronze in the men's skiff race in conditions that made racing difficult for all competitors.

Shooting: 5

The US claimed one gold in the shooting events with Vincent Hancock winning the men's skeet final with Conner Lyne Prince taking silver. Sagen Maddalena took silver in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions event, and Austen Jewell Smith took bronze in the women's skeet.

Track cycling: 2

Kristen Faulkner won her second gold of the 2024 Olympics as part of the women's team pursuit alongside Chloe Dygert, Jennifer Valente, and Lily Williams. Valente followed her pursuit gold with gold in the women's Omnium as well.

Weightlifting: 2

Olivia Reeves took home gold for the USA in the women's 71kg weightlifting event. Hampton Morris battled an impressive field to win bronze in the men's 61kg weightlifting category.

Wrestling: 7

Sarah Ann Hildebrandt crushed her competition in the women's freestyle wrestling 50kg category en route to a gold medal for her country. Amit Elor also took home gold in the women's 68kg category a day earlier. There were also a number of bronze and silver medals won by Team USA competitors.

Boxing: 1

Omari Jones became the only US boxer to medal at the 2024 Games, despite losing to Uzbekistan’s Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev in the semifinal of the 71kg men's division.

Artistic swimming: 1

The women's team artistic swimming was composed of Anita Alvarez, Jaime Czarkowski, Megumi Field, Keana Hunter, Audrey Kwon, Caista Liu, Jacklyn Luu, Daniella Ramirez, and Ruby Remati. They performed extremely well, taking home silver.

 

Sport climbing: 2

Sam Watson took home bronze in the men's speed climbing competition, just missing out on a chance to race for gold before rebounding to claim third place for his country. Brooke Raboutou took silver in the women's boulder and lead competition.

Basketball: 2

A clean sweep for the US teams, with both the men and women overcoming stiff French opposition to take home gold in the basketball.

Breaking: 1

Breaking wowed audiences all over the world, having been given its Olympic debut in Paris. B-Boy Victor claimed bronze for Team USA in the men's category.

Taekwondo: 1

Kristina Teachout put together a series of fantastic performances to win bronze in the women's 57kg taekwondo event.

Water polo: 1

Team USA's bronze medal was the nation's first water polo medal for 16 years per the Team USA website.

Football: 1

The USA women's team stamped their authority back on women's football after a few down years with a 1-0 win over Brazil.

Canoe sprint: 1

Nevin Harrison took home silver in the 200m women's canoe sprint to win Team USA's only medal in the canoe sprinting events.

Volleyball: 2

A bronze for the men's volleyball team was followed up by the women claiming the silver medal in one of the last finals of the Games.
