NFL Power Rankings: Who are the best quarterbacks so far in 2024?
No position in sports has as much individual responsibility as a quarterback, especially in the NFL. Before the ball even touches their hands, they have to recognize the opposing defense, adjust protection calls, and possibly change the play call at the line. Then, once the ball is snapped, they have to be perfect on almost every play. With all that being said, here are our top QBs so far in 2024. All stats are sourced from Pro Football Reference.
Kyler Murray started the 2024 season hot, but since then has had a dip in form. His performance against the Vikings last week was emblematic of his season, as he started strong before throwing some back-breaking interceptions.
Cousins has played exactly like Kirk Cousins through 10 weeks of the 2024 NFL season. He has games where he looks borderline-elite, only to stink up the joint a week later. His career is a series of weird inconsistencies, and so far his time in Atlanta is no different. Still, he’s the best QB the Falcons have had for some time and should lead them to the playoffs.

Purdy has played well this season, but with injuries to his all-world supporting cast, he hasn't been able to lift the 49ers to wins. We weren't expecting him to be able to do that, so we can't knock him too much. His accuracy and decision-making haven't been close to an elite level this season, making any potential contract extension a risky business for the Niners.
2024 has been a great year for Baker Mayfield, and he continues to play at a high level. You have to accept that turnovers will come with his high-octane, aggressive style of play, but for the most part, the good has outweighed the bad.
Love has missed some time this year, meaning his stats don’t look as gaudy as some on this list. He is, however, continuing to play at a high level when he is on the field. His style of play will lead to interceptions at times, due to his willingness to take risks in tight windows, that shouldn’t knock him as much as other QBs as his aggressiveness is what makes him so good. We can see a world where Love gets hot down the stretch and leads the Packers to glory.
It’s going too far to say Stroud is having a ‘Sophmore Slump’ but he hasn’t kicked on from his rookie season, yet. He is still playing at a high level and getting it done despite missing his best receivers for large chunks of the year, so there’s certainly no doubting his ability, we just know he can play a level above where he has been.
The only reason Wilson isn’t higher on our list is because of how little he has played. So far, we have seen Wilson revert to his Seahawks glory years as if the last two seasons he played in Denver didn’t happen. Mike Tomlin made a brave call to have Wilson start when Justin Fields had been playing well, we thought he had got it wrong, it turns out Tomlin might know more about football than us…
Jared Goff’s five-interception performance against the Texans certainly knocked his stats on the year, even though they still look more than respectable. Goff’s efficiency in Ben Johnson’s offense is incredible to watch, we just know that the system is doing a significant amount of the work. It’s no knock on Goff, however, as many couldn’t do what he does.
Stafford has had to put the Rams’ offense on his back at times this year, and has done it well when asked. We just don’t think he’s playing as well as he did last year. With both Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp now healthy, things will get easier for Stafford, and we’re excited to watch his play down the stretch.

There’s a chance we are getting swept up in the hype around Daniels after what has been an incredible start to his NFL career, however, we do think he’s legit. He has remained consistently composed in the pocket, hitting receivers all over the field and only running when he has to, or it was the play design.
Jalen Hurts may never be a consistently elite pocket passer, but he also doesn’t need to be. Per NEFLO, Hurts ranks fifth in the league in EPA/Play, in part due to his ability with his legs and his efficiency with the infamous Tush Push, as well as his ever-improving passing ability. He is up to 12 rushing TDs already this year, alongside his 14 through the air.
Herbert isn’t asked to carry the offense under Jim Harbaugh, which makes his job easier, he just makes so few errors, throwing only one interception in 2024 so far. The Chargers' defense is the strength of this team, meaning Herbert just needs to do enough, and there is no QB in football better equipped to do so.
This has not been a vintage Patrick Mahomes season so far, yet he is still performing like one of the best QBs in football. The interceptions are a little worrying, but Mahomes is a winner and will continue to find ways to beat you even when all seems lost. The Chiefs may not be the best team in football this year, (they're still 11-1) but with Mahomes under center, we certainly won't be betting against them from winning it all again.
Burrow has had to put the Bengals on his back this season and has responded with what looks to be the best season of his career. So far, he has thrown for 30 TDs to just five picks, adding another TD with his legs. The Bengals aren't good, but it's nothing to do with Burrow.
Allen is currently the favorite to win the MVP award, per Oddschecker, and we think he would be a worthy winner if that's how it eventually breaks down. The Bills are chasing the Chiefs for the number one seed, and if they get it, Allen's incredible performances will have been a big reason why.
So far in 2024, Lamar Jackson has completed 254/379 passes (67.0 %) for 3,290 yards, 29 TDs, and just 2 picks, all while adding 678 yards and another four scores on the ground. Lamar has fallen away in the MVP race, but for us, he has remained the best QB in football so far this season.
