The most cursed strikers in Euros history
The European Championships have played host to some of the greatest moments in football history, with some strikers becoming heroes for netting the winning goal in the final.
Some strikers, no matter how good they are at club level, have been cursed by moments at the Euros that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. Here are the most cursed strikers in Euros history!
At the 2024 European Championships, Belgium's Romelu Lukaku can't buy a goal, having three disallowed by VAR, putting him on track to win the 'VAR Golden Boot.'

Lukaku's goal against Slovakia was the first to be chalked off through the new 'Snickometer' technology after his teammate's arm slightly brushed the ball. His goal against Romania was not even a hairline offside, with his toes looking slightly in front of the defender.
According to the Bein Sport website, former French striker Andre-Pierre Gignac is still haunted by his miss during the 2016 Euros final against Portugal after hitting the post in second-half stoppage time, which would have seen France lift the trophy.
Gignac turned a slow shot by Rui Patricio, only to see it hit the post. Portugal eventually won the game in extra time, thanks to Eder. After the game, Gignac said: "It will haunt me for the rest of my career."
At Euro 1996, Spain lost controversially to England on penalties after having two goals disallowed for offside and three strong penalty claims waved off. The man at the forefront of the decisions was former Spanish striker Julio Salinas.
The Give Me Sports website reports replays showed that Salinas had timed his run to perfection before passing David Seaman and slotting home a goal, only to see the linesman flag go up. He said: "We not only played against 11 players and 70,000 fans but also three officials."

Current German attacker Thomas Muller has been an ever-present in Germany's squads over the last 12 years, scoring nine goals in four World Cup appearances and netting 45 overall for Germany.
Despite his prolific scoring at the World Cup, Muller has never scored at the three European Championships he has played. His most recent Euros will be remembered for missing a one-on-one chance against England in the last 16 before his side lost at Wembley.
Trophies have eluded England striker Harry Kane his whole career, and Euro 2020 proved to add to his trophy curse, having scored his penalty in the final penalty shootout and still losing to Italy.
Kane scored four goals at Euro 2020 and even netted the winner against Denmark in the semi-final to set up a showdown against the Italians. For all his effort, Kane still can't get the Euros or any other trophy over the line. Is this the year it changes?
