Ferrari's Carlos Sainz ends Red Bull's 15 race winning streak
Carlos Sainz finished first place in the Singapore GP, securing Ferrari's first win of the season. A thrilling final 17 laps saw the Spaniard claim his second-ever win!
The Spaniard displayed excellent technical skills alongside great race management. Sainz would intentionally slow his pace during the final stages of the race in order to engage Lando Norris and the two Mercedes trailing him.
Sainz qualified P1 during the Q3 runs and kept his lead till the very end. His teammate Leclerc started the race third but conceded to Mercedes pressure during the final laps.
The Mercedes-AMG took a gamble and pitted both of their cars during a virtual safety car. The last-minute order saw both drivers stack their pit stops, averaging three seconds each. A great performance from the team, that secured Mercedes a fresh set of wheels for the final laps.
George Russell, who started the race second, fell behind to third place behind Lando Norris during the final stages of the race. He maxed out every aspect of his race, pushing the car over the edge in the final lap.
Russell bumped his rear right wheel on the barrier, sending him head-on to the safety barrier. The young British driver was out of the race.
Lewis Hamilton was trailing right behind Russell all along and managed to finish P3.
Lando Norris finished P2 after a fantastic race, which he fought till the very end. The young British driver kept both Mercedes in check for over 12 laps!
Red Bull lost a chance to claim their 15th consecutive win in Formula 1 after a disastrous performance in Singapore. Both drivers struggled with their cars throughout the weekend; Max Verstappen described it as "sliding on ice".
Max Verstappen finished the race 5th after starting in 11th place. His teammate Checo Perez had a bitter-sweet night as he finished the race in 8th place.
Aston Martin had one of its worst race finishes this year, the team displayed yet another disappointing performance.
Fernando Alonso finished 15th while Lance Stroll failed to start the race!
Fernando Alonso displayed good lap times during the qualifiers but due to bad team strategies and lengthy pitstops, the veteran driver finished last in the race.
Lance Stroll crashed during qualifiers, completely recking the car against a barrier. The Canadian driver has been under pressure due to his bad performance this year.
Many Aston Martin fans believe it is time for the owner's son to step away from the seat and allow a more experienced driver to join Fernando Alonso as a teammate next year.
Liam Lawson has made an impression so far this season with his three GP races so far. The young Australian claimed his first couple of points for Alfa Tauri after he finished the race in 9th place.
There will be talk in the paddocks regarding his future seat in the F1. Red Bull has yet to make a statement, but teams such as Aston Martin and Haas would be interested in his future.
