Ex-Olympic figure skater Alexandra Paul dies in horror car crash, aged 31
Canadian ex-Olympic figure skater Alexandra Paul has died in a horrific car accident, Sky News reports.
Canadian police stated that Paul's car and five other vehicles were hit by a lorry when waiting in a line in Melancthon Township, Ontario.
At just 31, Paul was declared dead after the accident.
Paul's baby Charles, who was present in the car at the time, survived the accident and was later treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local children's hospital.
"Paul's legacy is carried on by her partner Mitchell Islam, her lover, and father to her son Charles. They were both a very successful skating duo, with multiple ice skating successes under their belt."
Together they competed in the 2014 Sochi Olympics, two years before Paul's retirement.
