Disaster for Chelsea as £52 million star gets injured
Chelsea’s big-name summer signing, Christopher Nkunku is facing a spell on the sideline after suffering a knee injury.
It has been the worst possible start for Nkunku at Chelsea as he injured himself in a preseason friendly game against Borussia Dortmund.
The Frenchman injured the meniscus in his knee and underwent surgery on the 8th of August to correct any damages and remove any broken tissue.
According to Matt Law from the Daily Telegraph, Nkunku is facing up to 16 weeks on the sideline as he recovers from the surgery.
In a tweet, Law says the Chelsea striker is, “Unlikely to play before December.”
Chelsea themselves have released a statement saying, “Nukunku has sustained a knee injury which will rule the forward out for an extended period… The 25-year-old has undergone an operation and will now begin a rehabilitation programme with the club’s medical department”
Nkunku hasn’t even played a competitive match for Chelsea at this point after arriving from RB Leipzig in a £52 million deal this summer.
Chelsea are off to a rough start this season as they have also lost central defender Wesley Fofana for the entire campaign to a torn ACL which required surgery.
