Deja vu for Tottenham: Conte out, Nagelsmann in?
The ‘Spurs’ have enjoyed a decent spell of football throughout the season, currently sitting 4th in the Premier League table, on track for another year in the Champions League. However, the London squad will have to sit out another year without silverware.
Tottenham fans were disappointed after falling short to Sheffield United in the later rounds of the FA Cup. A crippling defeat that left fans questioning everything!
However, the locker room atmosphere collapsed after enduring a tough draw at home against A.C. Milan, also falling eliminated in the Champions League.
Antonio Conte was treading some dangerous waters as ‘Spurs’ are likely to head into a 16th successive year without silverware. On the 26th of March, 2023, Conte was officially sacked by the club, following exits in the Champions League as well as the FA Cup.
Conte leaves the ‘Spurs’ in a tough spot as Newcastle lurks two points behind. The club is now under the orders of Cristian Stellini until the end of the season.
This will all seem like a deja vu for many Tottenham fans, reminiscent of Jose Mourinho’s exit two years ago
Club chairman, Daniel Levy sacked his fourth manager in four years. The ‘Spurs’ managerial position is a hot potato that may land in the hands of also recently sacked, Julan Nagelsmann.
Tottenham Hotspurs have made contact with former Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagerlamnn over their vacant managerial role.
Following the departure of Conte, the London club is in dire need of a new ship captain, to steer the ‘Spurs’ back to their former European glory.
Julian Nagelsmann, who was sacked by Bayern Munich earlier in March, is taking time over this decision and his future. Other reports also link the German coach to Real Madrid and other big European clubs.
Nagelsmann had a relatively good season with Bayern Munich, taking into account the Bavarians are still fighting in the Champions League and sit 2nd in the Bundesliga.
Nevertheless, internal strife caused a full rupture in the locker room and all fingers were aimed at the head coach.

The former Bayern Munich coach accused other former club staff members of hiding a mole within their ranks. Nagelsmann came out publicly denouncing the situation at Bayern Munich, a matter many argue should have been dealt with internally.
When comparing Conte to Nagelsmann, both coaches share similar profiles and love football passionately. However, their internal management has been put into question, and many fans still question whether or not Nagelsmann would be a good substitute following the 'Spurs' rupture.
Cristian Stellini, Conte’s assistant, will be filling in the vacancy until the end of the season. Ryan Mason will now become his assistant manager.
Conte and Stellini have also been in a working relationship for 20 years, but it now seems it is Stellini’s moment in the big chair until Nagelsmann or someone else fills in the seat full-time.
