Alvaro Morata's football resurrection has certainly made doubters eat their words! There were talks of a possible return to the Seria A during the summer transfer window. Nevertheless, the Spanish striker stood his ground at Atletico de Madrid and has proven to be an important player so far.

A joy for 'Cholo' Simeone

A happy ending to the drama for Diego Pablo Simeona, who had faith in him since day one. The Madrid striker has earned himself a spotlight once again.

A good season with Atlético de Madrid

Morata's partnership with Antoine Griezmann on the pitch is more lethal than ever. Last season he finished second top goal scorer with 13 goals, just two behind the dizzying French winger and 4 ahead of the Argentine Correa.

Staying has been a success (for now)

Staying in the Wanda Metropolitano was the right move. After a stressful transfer period, Morata has focused himself on his game, excluding media or pundits.

Derby against Real Madrid

Atletico's 3-1 victory over Real Madrid was a strong season breakthrough, snatching three important points. The Madrid derby was one of Morata's highlights of the year without a doubt. The Atletico striker drilled two goals into the back of the net.

No love lost

Morata opened the scoreboard in the 3rd minute, beating Kepa Arrizabalaga with a superb header after a cross from Samuel Lino. Atetico's 9 would strike again in the 45th minute, extending their lead 3-1.

Celebrations with uncontained rage

Morata celebrated with absolute rage after scoring against his former home club and eternal Atletico rival. His goals secured a very important win for the club, which hopes to win another league this season.

Derby MVP

Morata's great game also earned him the title of 'Hyundai Player' of the Madrid derby, or in other words, the best player of the match.

Five goals in five games

So far this season, Alvaro Morata has scored a total of 5 goals in the 5 games played. An average of 1 goal per game throughout the 311 minutes played. Great numbers so far for the Spanish striker.

Debute against Granada

Morata scored on the league opener to kickstart the race for the 'Pichichi' (Golden Boot). He scored in the 48th minute against Granada.

Bumpy road

Following a 0-0 draw against Betis, Morata recovered his goalscoring form against Rayo Vallecano, where he scored twice to seal the game 0-7. His consistency in front of the net is much more effective than in his previous years.

Top scorer

Alvaro Morata now leads the race for LaLiga's top scorer, in front of Jude Bellingham and Robert Lewandoski. Can the Spanish striker keep the rhythm till the end of the season?

Neither Bellingham, nor Lewandowski... Morata!

Morata has never experienced such a good start to a season. Many feel he can prolong his form if he avoids injuries. As 'Cholo' says: "One game at a time, now."

Praise from his coach

“He played an extraordinary game beyond the goals because of his involvement and work. We need this Morata, he has the weapons to reach the numbers he is looking for and we need. With confidence, I hope I can maintain this level for the national team and Atlético,” Simeone said about him at the end of the match against Real Madrid.

'I really want to win a title with Atlético'

After the game, Morata himself expressed confidence in himself and the team, as he made clear to the media: “This year I feel more important than other years here. We hope we continue winning, because I really want to win a title with the Atleti shirt.”

Good moment also with the Spanish team

Alvaro Morata has also been a key figure in the Spanish national team, helping the generational transition between veteran players like himself and the younger generation coming up. Morata scored a hat-trick against Georgia and secured Spain's ticket to the Euros.

Will he maintain his pace this season?

There is a lot of season ahead, but, for now, Morata has started like a shot. Is one of the best forwards, not only in Atlético and La Liga, but in all of Europe. It will be up to him to maintain that pace and, if so, the Colchonero club will be the one that benefits the most from it.
