Alisha Lehmann in for shock move? Three clubs interested in Aston Villa's female star
Women's football star Alisha Lehmann could be in for a surprise transfer as the Aston Villa player is being linked with a move to Mexico.
It was journalist Fernando Esquivel (365Scores Mexico) who revealed the news on X. "3 Liga MX clubs have initiated moves for the signing of Swiss international Alisha Lehmann," Esquivel writes.

According to Esquivel, Querétaro, León and Club América are the three clubs looking to sign Lehmann, with the latter being "the most advanced team" in their bid to sign the Swiss.
Esquivel is hopeful that Lehmann will end up playing in Mexico. "The Swiss player, considered one of the best on the planet, could come to Mexico."
Lehman currently plays for Aston Villa, where she has a contract until 2026. This means that any club that wants to sign her will have to pay a transfer fee.
Lehmann has failed to make an impact for Villa this season in the WSL, not scoring a single goal or providing a single assist, according to FotMob. She did, however, score two times in the Women's League Cup, per Aston Villa News.
Aston Villa News believes Lehmann's lack of impact has partly to do with the arrival of Adriana Leon from Manchester United, who has scored five goals and gave three assists in the WSL, according to FotMob.
Apart from being a star in the football pitch, Lehmann is also a global social media star, with 16.7 million (and counting) followers on Instagram.
Her leaving would have a huge impact on Villa, not only on the field. "Add to this the influence she has on the team and its fan base with her gigantic social media following. She would certainly be a miss on and off the pitch," Aston Villa News' Max Wilkins puts it.

According to Esquivel, the next few weeks should provide answers whether Lehmann will go to play in Mexico or stay at Villa Park.
