1000 games and one trophy: David Moyes finally wins silverware as a manager!
After 1,097 games as a manager over 25 years, David Moyes finally secured his first major trophy, winning the UEFA Conference League as manager of West Ham United.
West Ham ended their 43-year wait for another major trophy, with their last success being the 1980 FA Cup final and their first European success since 1965.
Jarrod Bowen sent the West Hams' fans into bedlam, scoring the game-clinching goal in the 89th minute, sinking Fiorentina to their second cup final loss in the campaign.
Moyes was joined by his dad pitch side, 87-year-old David Snr, who, at his bright age has been at every step of West Ham's European Journey.
According to rte.ie, Moyes said: "It's an incredible achievement to do so well in Europe. You look at some of the very good teams who find it a struggle. It's a great credit we've turned a disappointing season into a super season."
Moyes was under pressure from West Ham fans all season after an underwhelming league campaign that saw West Ham finish 14th with 40 points.
After winning his first major trophy in football, let's look at his greatest achievements as a manager.
Moyes started his managerial career in 1998, taking over as manager after making over 100 appearances for the club over five years.
The Scottish managers' first success at the helm of a club was in the 1998-99 season, guiding Preston to the Division Two title and promotion to Division One.
After guiding Preston to the Division Two title and narrowly missing out on promotion to the Premier League, Moyes took over at Everton in 2002, where he would spend the next 11 years in charge.
Over 11 years, Moyes enjoyed great success with the club, taking the club from relegation-threatened to the top four, an FA Cup Final, and several European journeys. Moyes won the LMA Manager of the Year award on three occasions as boss.
Moyes left Everton in 2013, deciding to take on the impossible task of managing Manchester United after the 26-year reign of Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Scot only managed ten months in charge of the club, winning the FA Community Shield in his first competitive match, but guiding Manchester United to their lowest finish in years, landing seventh place in the league.
After torrid spells with Sunderland and Real Sociedad, Moyes took over West Ham for his first spell in 2017 with the club in the relegation zone.
David Moyes sparked some impressive results, securing a 1-0 win over champions Chelsea and a 4-1 win away at Huddersfield, keeping them safe with two games remaining.
Moyes came back to West Ham with the club in a similar position in 2019, sitting in 17th place but able to guide them to safety in the second half of the 2019-20 season.
His second spell has been glittered in success, guiding the club to sixth and seventh-place finishes and winning the 2023 UEFA Conference League trophy in June.
