The places where Queen Máxima buys fast fashion
Queen Máxima is known for always looking her best. According to the Dutch reporters of RTL Boulevard, she often wears clothes from exclusive designers such as Jan Taminiau and Natan. A pretty expensive wardrobe, as that of many queens.
However, sometimes Máxima goes for the budget option. Recently, she was spotted at the Dutch Zeeman confection store and revealed that she shopped there. Let's see whether, without knowing it, you might be buying clothes in the same store as Máxima!
In the summer of 2023, Máxima visited a Zeeman store in the Dutch city of Alphen aan den Rijn. Zeeman is a very plain budget textile store that, for a long time, was only available in The Netherlands. In recent years, however, it expanded to Spain, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxemburg and Austria.

Máxima is always very interested in sustainable products and innovative startups. Her visit to the budget store may have seemed a bit away from that agenda, but the Queen actually talked about sustainable textile production with the people from Zeeman. And she also shared some remarkable news!

Queen Máxima said she often goes to Zeeman for her purchases. Very often, in fact, to the chain in Wassenaar, near her palace.

She buys socks, dish towels, and occasionally a T-shirt there, the Queen said according to Elle magazine. For example, when she needed a red shirt for a party for her children. And even if the children need certain clothes for school, she likes to go to Zeeman, the Queen added.
Dutch royal experts have noticed that the Queen sometimes chooses the cheaper option. Let's see in which elegant budget clothes Máxima has already been spotted.
During a speech on financial vulnerability on May 26, 2020, the queen wore an H&M dress. The long beige dress with balloon sleeves cost 49.95 euros.
As far as reporters could tell, it was the first time Máxima wore an H&M outfit. She kept it on when she visited a hospital in Amsterdam later that day.
According to Margriet magazine, Queen Máxima often wears outfits from the chain store Zara. Let's have a look at some of the best outfits she picked up at Zara at low prices.

On October 4, 2016, the queen appeared in a beautiful dress from Zara. She wore this outfit during a visit to a nursing conference in Rotterdam. She proves once again that beautiful clothes do not necessarily have to be expensive, because she only paid €49.95 for this dress.
Queen Máxima appears to be a real fan of the Spanish fashion chain because she also wore a jacket from Zara on May 10, 2017. And it was not on any random day: she wore the blazer with a matching red shirt from Zara to the 80th birthdays of King Harold and Queen Sonja of Norway. The flat shoes she wore were also striking. We usually see the Queen in high heels.
On September 19, 2019, Máxima appeared in a purple outfit at an insurance company's event in the city of Apeldoorn. The queen wore a purple polka dot blouse with purple leather culottes underneath, both from Zara.
On May 14, 2020, Queen Máxima visited Middin, a housing organization for people with disabilities. She wore a beautiful skin-tone outfit, consisting of a sleeveless top and trousers, both from the Spanish brand Zara. This outfit cost a total of 80 euros.
The queen likes to wear her Zara yellow suit, which you can see on the next slide. And she doesn't mind moving around town on a bicycle; she's Dutch, after all.
This garment was for sale at the Spanish retailer in 2019, Jan magazine reports. A long double-breasted blazer and flared trousers, the set also offered in dark green. We have seen Máxima in this cheerful outfit several times. In the photo we see her visiting a campsite - another typical Dutch location, with a corresponding cloudy sky! - on July 8, 2020.
Máxima always shines in beautiful outfits. According to Flair magazine in 2022, she had donned no fewer than 744 different looks over the past five years.
However, it's important to note that not all of these outfits were completely new. Máxima regularly wears her outfits several times. In fact, she wears previously worn clothes for 61% of her public appearances.
Despite her interest in affordable brands such as Zara and H&M, Flair estimates that Máxima spends approximately 20,000 euros ($21,500) on clothing annually. This means that she spends an average of around 1,600 euros ($1,723) per month on it.
