The impact of '13 Reasons Why'

In just 3 years, there were 4 seasons and 49 episodes of the drama series. It was enough to change the way we saw teen shows.

Controversy and success

The story of '13 Reasons Why' was short but shocking. Controversial, real, harsh, and radical, the Netflix show turned its cast into international stars.

The show ended in the middle of the pandemic, and you may think that the cast disappeared with it…

Let's find out and see where the stars of '13 Reasons Why' are now!

Dylan Minnette (Clay Jensen)

Clay went from seeking justice for Hannah to becoming the main character of the last season due to his own mental health issues. His character was present in all 49 episodes.

Dylan Minnette now

Dylan Minnette is somewhere between music and acting as far as his career is concerned. With his band 'Wallows,' he had success at Coachella 2022, but we have also seen him in 'Scream 5' (2022) and as Tyler Shultz in the acclaimed Amazon show 'The Dropout' (2022).

Katherine Langford (Hannah Baker)

She was the protagonist of the show, but the narrative of her character forced her to leave the series in the second season.

Katherine Langford now

Since then, we have seen her brilliant performance in 'Knives Out' (2019). Langford also starred in the not-as-successful 'Cursed' (2020) and in 'Spontaneous' (2020). She made another series with the six-episode show 'Savage River' (2022) which took place in her native Australia.

Difficult to repeat the success of '13 Reasons Why'

Achieving the same success as she did with the character of Hannah Baker has been a challenge. However, the face of Katherine Langford is now one of the most wanted by big and prestigious beauty brands; that's why we can see the actress as the face of L'Oreal Paris, for example.

Timothy Granaderos (Montgomery de la Cruz)

His performance on the show was extraordinary. In fact, his character went from a recurring bully to being one of the protagonists that everybody picked on in the last two seasons.

Timothy Granaderos now

Timothy has been working non-stop since the show aired. We have seen him in 'Room 104' (2020), 'Plan B' (2021), 'The Sex Lives of College Girls' (2021), 'Who Invited Them' (2022), 'Buried in Barstow', and 'The Workshop' (2022). That's quite impressive if we consider that there's been a pandemic in the past years.

Ross Butler (Zach Dempsey)

His character was a friend of Justin and Bryce. From the beginning, he was one of the most loved characters of the show by the fans.

The actor is building a prolific career. We've seen him in 'To All the Boys' (2020, 2021), 'Raya and The Last Dragon' (2021), 'Swimming with Sharks' (2022), and soon in: 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' (2023), and 'Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas' (TBA).

Devin Druid (Tyler Down)

Tyler always carried his camera and that's why he was able to catch some of the wrongdoings of his classmates, as they had been bullying him for years.

Devin Druid now

Like the rest of the cast, Devin Druid has continued his acting career. His modest projects include 'Greyhound' (2020), 'The Pale Door' (2020), 'White Elephant' (2020), 'The Man in the Woods' (2020), and 'Curse of the Macbeths' (2022).

Miles Heizer (Alex Standall)

He was Jessica's boyfriend and Hannah's friend, but that would change over time. He started as a secondary character and ended with one of the sharpest character arcs of the entire show.

Miles Heizer now

Since the show ended, we haven't seen Miles Heizer in any other TV or movie project. However, his romance with the 'Locke & Key' actor Connor Jessup drew much attention when they made it public in February 2020.

Justin Prentice (Bryce Walker)

His incredible performance as Bryce led everyone to truly despise his character.

Justin Prentice now

Since the show's finale, we have only seen this actor in one episode of 'True Story with Ed & Randall' (2022). As it seems from his Instagram account, he prefers to spend his time riding a motorbike.

He's balding

Of all the cast, the physical change of Justin Prentice has been the most radical. There's no more of his perfect-looking blond hair, but instead, due to premature hair loss, the actor is proud to show us his bald head on social media.

Brandon Flynn (Justin Foley)

A complicated family and troubled relationship with Jessica kept this character involved in every single episode of the show.

Brandon Flynn now

His appearance on the show granted him a fine career. We saw him in the Netflix series 'Ratched' (2020) and the horror movie 'Hellraiser' (2022). He's also set to star in an Apple+ miniseries about Abraham Lincoln's killer, John Wilkes Booth: 'Manhunt.'

Alisha Boe (Jessica Davis)

Her character had one of the strongest evolving arcs in the show. After being traumatically abused, she ended up transforming her pain and using it to help other students.

Alisha Boe now

The actress has focused on cinema rather than TV. We saw her with Julianne Moore and Finn Wolfhard in 'When You Finish Saving the World' (2022) and in the teen comedy 'Do Revenge' (2022). Apart from that, we have been able to see her in various fashion shows' front rows.

Christian Navarro (Tony Padilla)

Clay's best friend was the one delivering Hannah's tapes and making sure everybody would listen to them.

The actor was part of the podcast series 'Blood Ties' (2022) with Gillian Jacobs and Josh Gad. In addition, he starred in the horror movie 'Prey for the Devil' (2022) and appeared in series like 'Law & Order: SVU' and 'CSI: Vegas.'

Grace Saif (Any Achola)

Mysterious and hypnotic, her character entered the third season like a whirlwind that lasted till the end of the show.

Apart from voicing characters in the videogames 'Diablo Immortal' and 'Xenoblade Chronicles 3,' the actress is mostly enjoying her time doing a lot of Instagram lives with her fans.

Tommy Dorfman (Ryan Shaver)

When the character of Ryan Shaver left the show in the second season, Tommy Dorfman was able to take on a lot of projects and evolve as a person.

She identifies as a woman

As she confirmed in an interview with TIME magazine in July 2022: "For a year now, I have been privately identifying and living as a woman—a trans woman."

Since leaving the show, she has worked on projects like 'With Love, Victor' (2020), 'Acting for a Cause' (2020), 'Love in the Time of Corona' (2020), 'The Shuroo Process' (2021), and 'Sharp Stick' (2022).

Steven Silver (Marcus Cole)

Marcus Cole was part of the first two seasons of '13 Reasons Why.' Afterward, he was able to pick up quite a few movie and TV projects.

Steven Silver has starred in the movies 'The Obituary of Tunde Johnson' (2019) and 'All the Little Things We Kill' (2019), as well as in the show 'Council of Dads' (2020). Since 2020, it has been quiet around the actor though.

Michele Selene Ang (Courtney Crimsen)

She was the model student who, like everyone else in the series, hid some dark secret.

The Indonesian actress has stepped back from TV and focused her career on writing and theater.

Ajiona Alexus (Sheri Holland)

Two seasons were all her sweet character, Sheri, needed to leave '13 Reasons Why' and become a non-stop working actress.

You may recognize Ajiona Alexus from productions like 'Runaways' (2018), 'Light as a Feather' (2019), 'Empire' (2019), and 'Black Mafia Family' (2020) each of which saw her in multiple episodes, as well as the movie 'Sons 2 the Grave' (2022).

Selena Gomez

She was the producer of this series. Selena Gomez wanted a relevant and revolutionary series, pushed the project forward, and ended up producing it.

At the moment, Selena Gomez is at the top of her acting career. She voiced the character of Mavis in 'Hotel Transylvania: Transformania' and has been part of the main cast of the hit Hulu/Disney show 'Only Murders in the Building' along with Steve Martin and Martin Short.
