'Tiger King' got us through the worst of the pandemic

'Tiger King' was the show that got many people through quarantine, and fans have been wondering for months whether or not a second season was in the works.

Tiger King 2 will be out on the 17th of November!

Well, cool cats, with blockbuster viewing numbers, Netflix couldn't resist a second season, and it is coming out this week on November 17th! Join us for a look at everything we know about 'Tiger King 2!'

The official trailer

On October 27th, 'Tiger King' fans were delighted to get a glimpse of the show's second season when the trailer was released. Netflix released the trailer with this synopsis: "With Joe Exotic behind bars and Carole Baskin closing in on ownership of his disreputable zoo, the Emmy-nominated saga continues its twisted course with Tiger King 2 as newfound revelations emerge on the motivations, backstories, and secrets of America’s most notorious big cat owners. Old enemies and frenemies, including Jeff Lowe, Tim Stark, Allen Glover, and James Garretson return for another season of murder, mayhem, and madness. Thought you knew the whole story? Just you wait."

There's still so much more to tell

The producers claim that the story is still unfolding and that they barely scratched the surface with season 1 of the show. If you've been following the stars of the show on social media, you know that is certainly true!

There's still unseen footage from the first season...

According to an interview that director Rebecca Chaiklin gave to 'Entertainment Weekly,' there is still a lot of footage from the first season and plenty of drama. Chaiklin said, "…and it'll be just as dramatic and just as colorful as what has unfolded these past few years.”

and viewers have many questions...

Co-director Eric Goode spoke to 'Page Six' and said, “There are a lot of questions that people would like answered, and we will see if we can answer those. We do have a ton of footage..."

You know you want to see Joe's sentencing and John's new teeth!

Goode continued, "We did film [more] after we locked picture. We did film the sentencing [of Joe Exotic] and John [Finlay] with his new teeth.” Who doesn't want to see that footage?!

Filming for season 2 began in 2019

'Tiger King 2' began filming not long after finishing the filming of the first season in 2019. Directors say that the crew is still filming the court cases of several individuals featured in the first season.

Some key characters were NOT interested in 'Tiger King 2'

There are a few people we know for sure that said they would not participate in season 2 of 'Tiger King', although that's not to say they don't appear. They may appear in the old, unseen footage from the first season. So who participated in new filming and who didn't??

Joe Exotic

First of all, we have the Tiger King himself, Joe Exotic. Joe loves the camera and every opportunity to share his story, so of course he was willing to participate in season two of 'Tiger King'!

Being in jail won't stop Joe

Even though he is currently in jail (after all, he never got his pardon from Trump when he was president), that doesn't mean he can't give interviews from behind bars!

Joe has a lot to share

Season two will most likely take a look at Exotic's time in prison, how he shortened his prison sentences, his adventures prior to being incarcerated, and of course, his battle against prostate cancer.

Dillon Passage

Next we have Dillon Passage, Joe's second husband. As reported by People magazine in March of this year, Joe Exotic and Dillon Passage are supposedly getting a divorce.

Dillon isn't camera shy...

However, that hasn't stopped Dillon from wanting to participate in season 2 of 'Tiger King.' On 'Good Morning Britain' in August of 2020, Passage said he would be returning for another season.

John Finlay

Speaking of ex, we also have John Finlay, Joe's ex-boyfriend, who was heavily featured on the first season of 'Tiger King.' Finlay claimed he would not be returning to the show for additional season two filming as he told 'Variety' in April of 2020.

Carole Baskin

Carole Baskin is not happy with Netflix, so we assume she didn't agree to any new filming for the second season. In fact, the Big Cat Rescue co-owner gave a harsh review of the show on her blog.

Baskin called 'Tiger King' "salacious and sensational"

Baskin wrote, "When the directors of the Netflix documentary Tiger King came to us five years ago they said they wanted to make the big cat version of Blackfish (the documentary that exposed abuse at SeaWorld) that would expose the misery caused by the rampant breeding of big cat cubs for cub petting exploitation and the awful life the cats lead in roadside zoos and back yards if they survive. There are not words for how disappointing it is to see that the docuseries not only does not do any of that but has had the sole goal of being as salacious and sensational as possible to draw viewers."

Old footage of Baskin is used in season two

Despite her anger with Netflix, and much to her own dismay, Baskin is featured in the season two trailer for 'Tiger King.' Obviously, the directors Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin had to use footage from the first season.

Carole feels that she was misled

In September, Baskin told Variety that the directors of the series had attempted to "clear the air" on a phone call with her, to which she responded, “lose my number because that was not at all what we had agreed we were working on.”

Carole sued Netflix

It appears Carole is really upset with how she is depicted in the upcoming season because this November, she sued the production company Royale Goode Productions and Netflix over the footage of her used in the second season.

Cage Fight

Or perhaps Carole is just jealous of the show's success and wants the public to tune into her new Discovery+ show 'Carole Baskin's Cage Fight'....

Jeff Lowe

Jeff Lowe, Joe Exotic's other archnemesis, is no longer running the G.W Zoo and the zoo is now permanently closed to the public.

"...operating on fumes."

According to Entertainment Weekly, Goode and Chaiklin claim the park did not succeed under Jeff Lowe's ownership. Eric Goode said, “All I can tell you is that he [Jeff Lowe] is basically operating on fumes."

Nobody wants to go to Lowe's zoo

Goode went on to tell Entertainment Weekly, “No one is going now and there’s no source of income, and that's been going on for a long time. It's not something that has just happened because of what's happening in the world today.”

Jeff said he isn't participating in 'Tiger King 2' but he is promoting it...

Sounds juicy! We hope that even though Jeff Lowe told ET in June of 2020 that he and his wife Lauren would not be participating in season two, the series explores what happened to the G.W. Zoo.

Doc Antle

The other big personality that we are dying to know more about is Doc Antle. Sadly, Antle was not interested in additional filming for season two of 'Tiger King.'

Photo: Instagram@docantle

The Doc wasn't impressed with 'Tiger King'

In fact, the co-owner of Myrtle Beach Safari released a negative statement about the show on Facebook; Antle said he was "very disappointed" by the documentary.

Photo: Instagram@docantle

"Sensationalized entertainment"

The post was shared on the Myrtle Beach Safari's Facebook account and written from the perspective of members of his team. It said, “We can only assume it is because Doc Antle has been such a high profile wildlife personality for so many decades that his association would create more buzz. It is important to understand that this series is not a documentary; it’s sensationalized entertainment with paid participants.”

Photo: Instagram@docantle

Doc Antle came off as a cult leader in the documentary

However, if you have seen 'Tiger King,' then you know there is also a very good chance that Doc Antle did not enjoy that he was practically depicted as a cult leader. A cult made up of young, attractive women who worked at his zoo.

Will we learn more about Don Lewis?

The trailer hints that there is much more drama to reveal in season two of 'Tiger King.' Of particular interest is the story of Carole Baskin's first husband, Don Lewis.

Was Lewis into some dangerous stuff?

The trailer makes it seem as though Lewis was perhaps involved in some shady business....that possibly led to his demise?!

Will you indulge in 'Tiger King 2'

We can speculate all we want about what 'Tiger King 2' entails, but there's only one way to find out -tune in on November 17th and prepare yourself for binge-watching this guilty pleasure!
