The tragic death of Paige Rice, a 22-year-old beauty influencer
A budding influencer of 22 years, Paige Rice died in a tunnel crash on October 17, 2021. It was just shortly after she'd told her mum how she wanted to be remembered posthumously.
The beauty influencer was visiting her boyfriend in Liverpool for the weekend. The couple were driving in the Queensway Tunnel between Liverpool and Birkenhead when their Audi S3 crashed into a taxi. It was 12:30 am on Sunday morning.
The three involved were taken to the hospital. There, the influencer would lose her life hours later.
For their part, her boyfriend and the taxi driver (in his forties) are still in the hospital with severe injuries.
The news of the car crash had been reported by several media. However, it wasn't confirmed that the beauty influencer was involved until her mother, Clare, announced the dramatic news on Paige Rice's Instagram profile.
"Words can not describe how broken I am as her mum," Clare posted. "I don’t know how to carry on. My house is quiet and all I want is to talk to her one last time. Time is so precious and we never know when our time is up."
Paige Rice's mother recalled her daughter's "massive dreams." She "made things happen, her drive to succeed was inspirational."
Clare added that her daughter was "the most beautiful girl, with the biggest smile, a [contagious] laugh and heart of gold. If you [were] a friend of Paige she would love you with all she'd got and she would be there in an instant if you ever needed her."
As fate would have it, the young Paige Rice had just had a serious conversation with her mother about dying. She had told her mother how she'd like to be remembered.
Clare revealed to 'Birmingham Live' that she'd had a deep conversation with her 22-year-old daughter weeks before the fateful crash. "She told me that if she died to remember that she lived life to the absolute full."
"I have chronic illnesses," Clare disclosed, "and Paige has pushed me to stay positive and to keep going. She had massive dreams, wanted to see the world and live a full life. Paige would fill her time with being social in between working hard and looking after me."
After Clare's tragic announcement, a fundraiser was organized to help the family through these difficult times. Clare has an 18-year-old brother, Tyler.
The goal of the fundraiser was to reach 30,000 pounds. Within only 48 hours, the GoFundMe page already hit that mark.
Jack Grealish, Manchester City's star footballer, made the largest donation of £5,000.
In addition to the soccer player, more than 1,200 people have collaborated in the fundraiser for the relatives of Paige Rice.
"Anyone who had the pleasure of having her in their life can understand how tragic this is," the GoFundMe text reads. "She was such an amazing woman with such a clean heart who had so much love to give. Anyone she met she had a huge impact on and a smile that would light up any room."
