Ridley Scott may be known for science fiction...

While he has made excellent science fiction films like 'Alien' or 'Prometheus,' Ridley Scott is also a history buff.

...but he is also a history buff

We can see his passion for history with films such as '1492: Christopher Columbus' (1992), 'Gladiator' (2000), or 'The Last Duel' released this fall. With 'House of Gucci,' he tells us the story of one of the biggest scandals in the fashion world.

Here we see Scott on the set of 'House of Gucci'

A recognizable visual style

Having spent time in advertising and influenced by art and painting, particularly due to his training in Fine Arts, Ridley Scott is recognized for his pictorial style.

Scott is like a painter

Much like a painter, the filmmaker knows how to transcribe the essence of an atmosphere and thus create a feeling through the image.

A very visually pleasing film

We also recognize his visual style by subdued photography, giving his scenes and backlighting an intimate feel. All of these elements combined with haute couture, and this film promises to be very aesthetic in every way.

Lady Gaga's return to cinema

'House of Gucci' is Lady Gaga's return to the big screen, three years after her massive success in 'A Star is Born.' The American singer was nominated for the Oscar for best actress for the film.

Gaga fits the role perfectly

This time again, she will take the leading role, that of Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci convicted of his murder. A part that Lady Gaga was practically made for the performer. "It's going to be a revelation," warns her on-screen partner Al Pacino.

A tailor-made role

Who other than Lady Gaga to interpret the one that the Italian tabloids nicknamed Lady Gucci? The singer of 'Born this Way' impresses in her role of Patrizia Reggiani.

Gaga worked hard to become Patrizia

It must be said that the singer of Italian origin has worked hard to get into the skin of this woman with a complex profile.

A year and a half of preparation

Lady Gaga explained that she carefully prepared her role for several months before filming. She read all the documentation on the case, worked on her northern Italian accent, and even went to live in the transalpine region for a while.

Adam Driver in the role of Maurizio Gucci

To accompany Lady Gaga, Ridley Scott once again called on Adam Driver, who already played the primary role (with Matt Damon) in his last film, 'The Last Duel.'

Adam enjoyed working with Lady Gaga

In 'House of Gucci,' Adam Driver plays the role of Maurizio Gucci. The American actor said he particularly enjoyed filming alongside Lady Gaga.

Adam enjoys working with Ridley

In regards to working with the well-known director, Adam said, "Ridley shoots his films in a very theatrical way, and because there are so many cameras you forget they're there."

"The best possible partner"

“It's really easy to work with her. She is the best possible partner. Someone who is very prepared but who is ready to go wherever the best idea is at any given moment" said Adam Driver on his relationship with Lady Gaga on the set in an interview with the French publication LCI.

A five-star cast

The director did not deprive himself and only used top-notch actors to accompany Lady Gaga and Adam Driver on the screen. 'House of Gucci' has a dream cast composed of Jared Leto, Al Pacino, Salma Hayek, and Jeremy Irons.

Jared Leto's transformation in the film

The characterization of Jared Leto to play Paolo Gucci, cousin of Maurizio and stylist for the brand, is impressive. The actor said it was shocking to learn the story of the family the film is about.

Salma Hayek praised Lady Gaga

Salma Hayek gives life to Pina Auriemma, Patrizia's close friend. The actress also praised Lady Gaga's talent: "I've worked with brilliant actors, but there's something special about her. I love never knowing what she's going to do next."

Al Pacino

And if wasn't star-studded enough, Al Pacino, at the age of 81, also graces this film in the role of Aldo Gucci.

Gucci, a family story

The history of Gucci is, above all, a family affair. Founded by Guccio Gucci, the luxury House was born in 1921 in Florence. When its founder died in the early 1950s, his three sons Aldo, Vasco, and Rodolfo took over the reins of the empire.

Who was Maurizio Gucci?

Grandson of Guccio Gucci, Maurizio Gucci, presided over the luxury brand from 1983, after the death of his father, Rodolfo. He became the main shareholder of Gucci but quarreled over the management of the House with his uncle, Aldo, who accused him of tax evasion.

The end of the family empire in the early 1990s

In 1988, Maurizio Gucci sold almost half of his shares to Investcorp, an investment fund in Bahrain. But the group subsequently recorded heavy economic losses, so much so that Maurizio decided to sell the rest of his shares in 1993 for a large sum of money. In fact, the House no longer belongs to the founding family.

His relationship with Patrizia Reggiani

During an evening in Milan, Maurizio Gucci met Patrizia Reggiani, daughter of a wealthy entrepreneur who made his fortune in road transport.

A passionate love story

Their love story was a passionate one, and, despite his father's disagreement, Maurizio married Patrizia in 1973. From their union, two daughters, Alessandra and Allegra, were born.

A love crime

In the mid-1980s, Maurizio left Patrizia Reggiani for another woman, Paola Franchi. However, the divorce was not until 1994.

Killed by four shots

Mad with rage, the ex-wife hired a hitman. On March 27th, 1995, Maurizio Gucci was killed by four revolver shots in front of his offices.

Sentenced to 29 years in prison

Arrested in 1997, Patrizia Reggiani was found guilty of the murder of her ex-husband during a high-profile trial in Italy.

Patrizia does not regret a thing

During her trial, she declared that she did not regret anything and that she had done everything to protect her daughters' inheritance.

She was sentenced to 29 years in prison but obtained a reduced sentence while incarcerated and was finally released from prison in October 2016. She still lives today in central Milan and is often seen with a parrot on her shoulder.

Patrizia Reggiani, disappointed not to have met Lady Gaga

The "Black Widow," as she was nicknamed, spoke about the movie 'House of Gucci' last March. "I am annoyed that Lady Gaga is playing me in Ridley Scott's new film without having had the consideration and the sensitivity to come and meet me," she told an Italian press service. To which Lady Gaga replied, “I didn't want anyone that had an opinion that could colour my thinking in any way. "

Her criticism of the film

Regarding the film, Patrizia Reggiani also said via the press: “They steal the identity of an entire family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system. Our family has an identity, a private life. We can talk about anything, but there is a limit that should not be crossed. "

Ridley Scott's response

Monday, November 22nd, director Ridley Scott responded to Maurizio Gucci's ex-wife. In an interview with the BBC, Scott said, “I don’t engage with that. You have to remember that one Gucci was murdered and another went to jail for tax evasion so you can’t be talking to me about making a profit. As soon as you do that you become part of the public domain.”

Fashion movie of the year

Whether for its cast, its director, its atmosphere, its story inspired by real events, and its entire haute couture universe, 'House of Gucci' is THE fashion film of the year not to be missed!
