Maya Hawke, rising star from a celebrity family
Maya Hawke is an actress and model emerging into stardom in Hollywood. She's known the world of show business since she was a little girl. Can you tell from her name and the image who are her parents?
Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke are Maya's parents. The actors met while filming 'Gattaca' in 1997. They fell in love and married in 1998. Their marriage lasted until 2005.
Maya Hawke was born in New York in 1998. She aspired to become an artist like her parents, and as a teenager, she took classes in the prestigious Juilliard School in New York.
In 2019 Maya appeared in 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,' the acclaimed Quintin Tarantino movie. As such, she follows in the footsteps of her mother who starred in one of the first big Tarantino films, 'Pulp Fiction,' and continued working with him the two 'Kill Bill' movies.
That's the question. Apart from the fact that she has her own style, Maya bears resemblances to both parents.
One of the actress's first jobs was the role of Jo March in a BBC version of 'Little Women,' the classic by Louisa May Alcott.
She also participated in one of the most iconic series of our time: 'Stranger Things.' Together with other young actors like Millie Bobby Brown, she brought a 1980s' sci-fi story to life.
From a young age, Maya Hawke has attended fashion shows as a viewer, but she also walked the runway a few times herself. Here she's at a New York show with Sigourney Weaver and Rachel Brosnahan.
And in between high-fashion events, Maya Hawke's film career is on the rise. In 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,' Maya played one of the cruel disciples of Charles Manson, the head of the sect that murdered Sharon Tate in 1969.
In 2020, Maya Hawke starred in 'Mainstream', a generational portrait directed by Gia Coppola, the granddaughter of the great Francis Ford Coppola.
She also appeared in 'Fear Street, Part One' and 'Italian Studies' in 2021. For the future, there's a Wes Anderson movie in production, called 'Asteroid City.' So we surely haven't heard the last of Maya Hawke yet!
