Why did the Emmys 'forget' about these great series and actors?
The 74th Emmy Awards, which take place on September 12, have announced their nominees. Big contenders are the makers and cast of 'Succession,' 'Ted Lasso,' and 'White Lotus.' But some illustrious names are missing from the list!
Looking at the full list of nominees, critics have wondered: why are there so many distinguished and well-deserved absences in some of the categories?

If you consider that some awards have up to eight candidates, it's hard to believe that certain names have not been included. Let's see who these forgotten stars are.

They nominated the entire cast of 'Only the Murders in the Building', except Selena Gomez. And, let's face it, she is on a par with the excellent Martin Short and Steve Martin.
Or what about 'Succession'? They nominated all the actors and actresses in the main cast and Alan Ruck is not among them. That's an insult to the Roys' honour.
He may seem like a straightforward guy in the series, but within the simplicity he presents, there's a complex past shining through. Connor Roy seems a difficult role to play, but for the Academy, he was not worth an Emmy.
Her partner and friend Reese Witherspoon has been nominated, but is Jennifer Aniston's performance on 'The Morning Show' that different?
Jennifer Aniston's character, Alex Levy, keeps growing with every episode.
One of the best Disney Plus productions hasn't even gotten a single nomination. Not even the great actor Pedro Pascal got a nod from the Emmys.

However, we have to note that the new season of the Amazon series did not premiere within the stipulated period to compete this year.

Released on 27 May, Disney did not want to send the Emmy committee any more episodes than the two it has just released, even though the deadline was four days later. For that technicality, the series was left without any possible nominations.

The second season of 'Jules' presented a character of overwhelming complexity but, for the Emmys, it was not enough.
Kate Bishop is set to dominate Marvel's new era. Her debut in 'Hawkeye' has been sweeping, funny, and compelling, but not enough to earn her an Emmy nomination.
The 2022 Emmy Awards have selected series premiering between 1 June 2021 and 31 May 2022. For that reason, the big winner of 2021 will have to wait a year to regain its crown.
In fact, the next batch of episodes of this historical drama will not arrive until November. 'The Crown' will not be eligible for any awards this year.

As the first part of the fourth season premiered on May 27, it may have made it into the Best Drama Series nominations, but... Sadie Sink? Millie Bobby Brown? Nothing at all?

It remains to be seen if these nominations jump to 2023. We'll have to wait a year to find out.
