Zach Shallcross’ season of The Bachelor ended with his proposal to Kaity Biggar and Charity Lawson became the next Bachelorette for the 20th season in June 2023. Fans will have to wait until August to find out who is returning for the 9th season of 'Bachelor in Paradise' and who will be lucky enough to find love on the beach.

Jesse Palmer and Wells Adams return for Season 9

While the cast of season 9 has yet to be announced, we know that Jesse Palmer will return as host and Wells Adams as paradise bartender and confidant.

The 7th and 8th seasons of 'Bachelor in Paradise' brought drama but also lasting relationships

These recent seasons have proved that solid relationships can form when young people in beach attire spend hours together away from the pressures of real life, with an endless supply of alcohol, and they are there for the right reasons.

Riley Christian and Maurissa Gunn - Season 7

The couple appeared to be very much in love during their time on the show. During the finale, Riley proposed to Maurissa and she accepted. Their engagement marked the first time a black couple became engaged on a show in the Bachelor franchise. Unfortunately, the couple announced their breakup several months after the show aired.

Mari Pepin and Kenny Braasch - Season 7

Their road to coupledom was filled with missteps and temptation but still, this pair committed to each other at the end of the show with Kenny getting down on one knee to ask for Mari’s hand in marriage. The two are still together and are planning a wedding for November 2023.

Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt - Season 7

These 'Bachelor in Paradise' favorites met during season 7. This season marked Joe’s third appearance in the Bachelor franchise and Serena’s second. The two made a fast connection despite Joe’s apprehension about returning to the show. Joe proposed during the show’s finale and the couple were married at City Hall in New York City in October 2022.

The couple are planning a big celebration with family and friends

The couple are now living in New York and are planning a larger wedding celebration with friends and family for the Fall 2023.

Despite previous heartbreak, Becca Kufrin joined season 7 of 'Bachelor in Paradise'

Becca accepted Arie Luyendyk’s proposal during season 22 of 'The Bachelor' only to have Arie end their relationship on camera because he still had feelings for another woman from the show. Following this very public breakup, Becca was chosen as 'The Bachelorette' for season 14. While she did find love and got engaged to Garrett Yrigoyen during this season, their relationship ended after two years of dating.

Thomas Jacobs and Becca Kufrin - Season 7

Becca made a late entrance on 'Bachelor in Paradise' season 7 and explored a relationship with Thomas Jacobs.  Becca ended their relationship during the show’s finale but the couple rekindled their relationship after the show aired. The couple is now engaged, owns a home together, and has a baby boy on the way, proving that the 'third time’s a charm' if you just trust the process.

Noah Erb and Abigail Heringer - Season 7

The couple formed a connection early on the season and seemed very comfortable and content together. After some communication problems, Noah blindsided Abigail when he ended their relationship and they each left paradise alone, breaking the hearts of fans at home. Proving that true love does exist, the pair reunited in the real world and are now living together in L.A.

Brendan Morris and Pieper James - Season 7

Brendan was a cast member from the beginning of season 7, but Pieper did not arrive in paradise for another three weeks. Brendan and Pieper drew criticism from cast members who had heard rumors that they had been dating prior to coming on the show. Due to the controversy, they left the show as a couple and are still happily together.

Michael Allio and Danielle Maltby - Season 8

Michael is a single father who lost his wife to cancer in 2019. He first appeared on Katie Thurston’s season of 'The Bachelorette' but left early because he felt he needed to return home to his son. His decision to join the cast of 'Bachelor in Paradise' allowed him to meet Danielle and they were able to bond over their similar experience of losing a partner. Danielle’s fiancé Nick died in 2011 due to a drug overdose.

Michael and Danielle are now living in the same city

Michael and Danielle did not get engaged at the end of the season but agreed to continue to grow their relationship. Danielle recently moved from Nashville to Cleveland to be closer to Michael and his son. Bachelor Nation fans continue to root for this deserving couple.

Brandon Jones and Serene Russell - Season 8

Brandon and Serene’s passion and commitment to each other was apparent early in the series. It was no surprise when the couple got engaged during the finale. The pair seemed to be blissfully in love and were planning their wedding for 2024.

Brandon and Serene announced separation in May 2023

Unfortunately, the fairy tale did not last and the couple announced their split on social media. If these two couldn’t make it, does true love even exist?

Johnny DePhillipo and Victoria Fuller - Season 8

Johnny and Victoria seemed to fall hard for one another on the beach. Johnny really opened up to Victoria about his family’s struggles and allowed Victoria the space to sort out her feelings for Alex Bordyukov. Victoria chose to be with Johnny and their time in paradise ended with an engagement.

Greg Grippo and Victoria Fuller

While the show was airing, Johnny and Victoria broke up. When the reunion show was filmed, Victoria was already in a new relationship with Greg Grippo from Katie Thurston’s season. Johnny suspected that Victoria had cheated on him with Greg, an accusation she firmly denied. Regardless of when or how  Victoria and Greg began dating, they remain a happy couple.

Tyler Norris and Brittany Galvin - Season 8

The couple found romance on the beach and while they did not get engaged at the end of the series, they opted to leave as a couple. After filming ended, they spent more time getting to know each other however, Brittany had second thoughts. By the time the reunion show aired,  Brittany had ended their relationship and Tyler was left heartbroken.

Romeo Alexander and Kira Mengistu - Season 8

A love triangle developed between Romeo, Kira, and Jill Chin. Romeo chose to pursue Jill which led to Kira leaving paradise. After Romeo and Jill found themselves to be incompatible,  in a surprise move, Kira returned and suggested that she and Romeo leave together to pursue a relationship. Romeo hesitated but did leave with Kira. Unfortunately, their time as a couple outside the show was also short lived.

Who will return for 'Bachelor in Paradise' season 9?

In an interview for Bachelor Nation, Rachel Recchia shared that she would consider going on 'Bachelor in Paradise' if her good friend Michelle Young joined her. Since both of these women did not find lasting relationships in their recent seasons of 'The Bachelorette,' perhaps it is time to see what paradise has to offer those still looking for love.
