Ice cold: Shannen Doherty says her ex is waiting for her to die

The divorce battle between Shannen Doherty and her ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko continues, even though she's nearly dying. In a shocking new twist, Doherty claims Iswarienko is stretching the process in the hopes she will die before the papers are signed.

According to court documents obtained by People magazine, Shannen declared that her ex Kurt was "[prolonging] our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years."

Katherine Heersema, Iswarienko’s lawyer, responded that "Kurt is not 'simply wait[ing] for Shannen to die'. He wants the best for Shannen and he wants both of them to be able to put this case behind them and move forward."

The complex proceedings' reports show that Shannen Doherty has refused certain settlements. She claims she did so because Iswarienko allegedly sidestepped questions about the photos he sold during the marriage. She wants him to pay spousal support according to his earning capacity and not a deflated amount - especially because Doherty herself is running out of money due to her illness and the limitations of her health insurance, People magazine explains.

"Kurt has been utilizing the airplane, spending thousands of dollars at medical spas, jewelry stores, Gucci, and on flights… while simultaneously claiming he has insufficient funds with which to support me," Doherty's statement said. These are all very tough accusations in an excruciatingly painful divorce.

The actress, married to the photographer since 2011, spoke out about the reasons that led her to divorce her husband in April 2023. It's a painful story.

Sadly, the person who should have been her greatest support as she was facing her incurable illness, failed Shannen Doherty at a crucial moment. She talked about it in the 'Let's Be Clear' podcast.

According to what she says in the podcast, minutes before entering the operating room to undergo surgery for a brain tumor, in January 2023, Shannen Doherty found out that Kurt Iswarienko had been unfaithful to her.

"My husband had been carrying on an affair for two years," the actress reveals. She says she felt "so betrayed."

Doherty was so angry and hurt that she did not allow Iswarienko to accompany her to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where the operation was performed.

"At the end of the day," Doherty recounts in the podcast, "I just felt so incredibly unloved by someone I was with for 14 years, by someone I loved with all my heart."

Between January and April 2023, the actress was "very confused" due to the steroids and the effects of the operation on her brain. However, by April, she was ready to end things with Kurt.

Her delicate condition after the operation did not deter Shannen Doherty from trying to get the whole truth about her husband's affair.

She even contacted the woman Kurt Iswarienko had been seeing for the past two years.

Curiously, the actress thinks she is partly to blame for the love triangle.

"I take responsibility," she says in the podcast, "not only because of how I was but because of how cancer impacted my marriage and how it impacted him the second time around."

And this is how Shannen Doherty ended her third marriage. Previously, she had been married to Ashley Hamilton (1993-1994) and Rick Salomon (2002-2003), two marriages that lasted a lot less time than her union with Kurt Iswarienko.

She says in the podcast that, for most of 2023, she has been closed off to any new relationships. In the last weeks of the year, however, this has begun to change.

"I’m pretty sure I’ll meet somebody — hopefully soon," she predicted in her interview.
