Why was her statement concerning?

Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene made a bold claim in her response to the latest apparent assassination attempt against Donald Trump. What did she say this time? Let’s look at what she posted online.

Another assassination attempt

In a statement on her X account, Greene wrote: “President Trump is safe and sound after ANOTHER ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT!!! Thank God!!!” However, that was not the concerning portion of her statement.

“They are trying to kill him!!!”

“They are trying to kill him!!!” Greene continued. “They will do anything to stop him from winning.” Who Greene was referring to isn’t clear but this isn’t the first time the Georgia Congresswoman has posted something concerning following an assassination attempt on the former president.

What is she saying online?

In July, following the first attempt on Trump’s life during a rally in Pennsylvania, Greene posted several messages on X that earned her heavy criticism and calls to resign over her tone-deaf comments online following the assassination attempt.

Greene blamed Democrats

Greene was quick to blame Democrats for the shooting which saw the former president almost lose his life and she stoked the flames of division with her remarks.

A terrible accusation

“Democrats wanted this to happen,” Greene said in the wake of the shooting, according to The Independent. But that was not the only accusation that Greene made.

Spreading conspiracy about the shooting

The Georgia Congresswoman claimed that the Democrats have wanted Trump gone for years; she even began spreading conspiracy theories about the shooting.

Things don’t make sense for Greene

Greene took to X in the wake of the assassination attempt and explained that there were “too many things that do not make sense" about what had happened in Pennsylvania.

“Fine call me a conspiracy theorist”

“I don’t care what anyone says about me saying this, because everyone knows we are all thinking it,” Green wrote. “Fine call me a conspiracy theorist. I don’t give a d***.”

The left always wanted Trump dead

“The insane left have been fantasizing out loud about killing Trump for years. Prove me wrong,” Greene concluded in a message that only worked to sow more division.

Inflaming the situation

Greene’s social media has been dominated by rhetoric designed to inflame the situation and tensions surrounding what happened in Pennsylvania, and people took note.

Some people were enraged by her remarks

One social media message in particular seemed to enrage some people online and saw responses that called for Greene to resign for the things that she was posting.

A battle between the country’s parties

What did Greene post? Well on July 14th she framed the aftermath of the assassination as a battle between Democrats and Republicans and went off on her opponents.

Greene’s view of the Democratic Party

“We are in a battle between GOOD and EVIL,” Greene wrote online before adding: "The Democrats are the party of pedophiles, murdering the innocent unborn, violence, and bloody, meaningless, endless wars.”

“The Democrat party is flat out evil”

“They want to lock up their political opponents, and terrorize innocent Americans who would tell the truth about it. The Democrat party is flat out evil, and yesterday they tried to murder President Trump,” Greene added.

The murder accusation was too much

The accusation that the Democrats tried to murder Trump was too much for many and it was what saw the most reactions from those following Greene’s congressional account.

Putting Greene in her place

David McAfee of Raw Story tracked some of the most interesting responses to Greene’s message, several of which really put the Georgia Congresswoman in her place.

“You’re truly beyond deplorable”

"Donald Trump almost got shot dead by a Republican gun nut wielding an AR-15 — and this is how you respond? You’re truly beyond deplorable,” wrote the founder of Occupy Democrats Omar Rivaro.

"Resign in disgrace. It was a Republican”

"Resign in disgrace. It was a Republican,” wrote user AesPolitics1, while self-described liberal pundit Art Candee called Greene’s rhetoric “reprehensible” in one message and in another wrote her message was “vile hypocrisy” since she often complains about nasty Democratic rhetoric.

A reminder of the division in America

The response to Greene’s message in the wake of the shooting that almost ended the former president's life is a stark reminder that not all political actors in the United States are operating in good faith.

The right’s most concerning politician

Greene is one of Trump’s most ardent followers and one of the right’s most concerning politicians, a fact that is borne out by her response to what happened in Pennsylvania.

Greene is still turning up her rhetoric

In the days that followed, Greene continued to spread conspiracy theories about the assiniation and also to turn up her rhetoric around the events of the attempted assassination. How she react to the latest attempt on the  Trump's life has yet to be seen, but it is likely she will continue
