Fifty Fifty is gaining much attention today in the K-pop world with their lawsuit and the addition of new members to Fifty Fifty, since the expulsion of Saena, Aran, and Sio. However, the trio are now back in K-pop under a new group!

The drama behind the original Fifty Fifty

To rehash the drama surrounding the original Fifty Fifty, the ex-members are currently entangled in a lawsuit with their original agency, Attrakt, accusing the agency of a variety of things.

Fifty Fifty’s hits

In their original lineup, Fifty Fifty was quite the promising K-pop group as they had come up with several viral hits that have been successful internationally such as ‘Cupid’, and the group had even managed to have a song featured in the hit box office success, ‘Barbie’!

What Attrakt was accused of

According to a Soompi report, Attrakt was accused by all members of the original Fifty Fifty of infringing on the members’ privacy, violating contract terms, and committing libel against the members.

Possible background behind the lawsuit

According to Korea JoongAng Daily, another entity, The Givers, is also engaged in the lawsuit and is responsible for inciting the initial Fifty Fifty members to revolt against Attrakt. For context, The Givers initially collaborated with Attrackt to create Fifty Fifty.

Member reshuffle

Given the lawsuit, it was natural that Attrakt would impose a member reshuffle of Fifty Fifty, by kicking out Saena, Aran, and Sio. Alone, Keena remained, as she had chosen to withdraw from the lawsuit, reports The Korea Times.

Fate of the expelled

The lawsuit that involved Saena, Aran, Sio and The Givers versus Attrakt was a high profile one. The k-pop careers of the girls might seem to have come to an end as a result of the publicity surrounding the lawsuit and the fact that they offended their agency, until now.

Out with a new group

However, NME reports that Saena, Aran and Sio were reported on August to have signed up with a new label, MASSIVE E&C, which is managed by IOK Company.

IOK Company had also teased that they are working with “the team behind the success of ‘Cupid’” to produce the songs for the upcoming re-debut of the new girl group, setting high hopes for another hit in the K-pop world.

Mixed reception

Despite the high promise, it seems that the reception for the return of the ex-Fifty Fifty members is lukewarm. The consensus for most online forums discussing the girls appears to be skeptical, with many expressing doubt that the girls would be as successful as they were before in the original Fifty Fifty. Meanwhile, Fifty Fifty has released new music with new members in their lineup on September 20.
