Having played Bianca in the 90s hit film '10 Things I Hate About You,' she became a teen superstar. Young girls everywhere wanted to be her. Let's just hope they didn't copy her hair dos as well... There are certainly a few more hairstyles we look back on and are glad the fashion died.

Jennifer Lopez

JLo is a star you'd hardly associate with nightmare hairstyles. But, all the same, here she is wearing that 90s bandana and some questionable hair worms sprouting over the top.

Justin Timberlake

It is hard to believe that many considered this a fashion statement. Justin Timberlake in his NSync years got it wrong with this bleached top curly mess.

Angelina Jolie

Yes, it seems it is possible for the Hollywood star to look less-than-perfect. This bright orange color she opted for in the 90s just doesn't work and looks almost scary.

Andre Agassi

This is Andre Agassi sporting his mullet. He kept this hairdo for quite a while, but we are glad that the fashion died out.

Courtney Love

There was an obsession in the 90s with putting things in your hair - from feathers to sequins. It seems Courtney Love tried to meet in the middle and put a fusion of those in her hair. You just want to give her hair a good shake.

Cyndi Lauper

Back in 1995 she probably should have chosen a different hair colorist. The Black white and yellow, along with the perm and the up, just makes you shiver. The rogue curl trickling down her forehead is also questionable.

Britney Spears

Britney Spears has gone through every possible phase on an aesthetic, professional, and personal level. In the beginning, her two pigtails became a trademark. But soon enough, they appeared much less innocent...

Spice Girls

The Spice Girls were champions of crazy 90s clothes and hairstyles, so we must give them an honorary mention. Each of the women was in character: Sporty, Ginger, Baby, Scary, and Posh Spice. An iconic moment was their meeting in 1997 with Prince Charles during an official event in Manchester.

MC Hammer

The issue here is not necessarily just MC Hammer, but the fashion of cutting ridges in the side of your hair. Like the three markings on the stone in Indiana Jones' Temple of Doom. That's what it makes us think of.

Cher

This is one amazing example of Cher's amazonian style, all grid, glitter, and attitude, that she shared with the world during one of her concerts in the 90s.

Melissa Joan Hart

Here the actress reminds us of those curls that were never pulled through or brushed out. The prom ringlets hopefully died with the 90s.

Anne Hathaway

Joining Melissa Joan Hart is Anne Hathaway from the 90s - circa 'The Princess Diaries,' when the actress shot to fame. You just want to put your fingers through those curls and ruffle them up a little.

A1

Particularly the lead singer, Ben, had fallen to the babyish curtains that many men sported back in the 90s. However, the thing with Ben is that he had this tuft of hair where his parting began and it looked just wrong.

Kirsten Dunst

The butterfly clip. School teachers in the nineties spent most of their time picking these up off the floor and telling girls to stuff them back in their pencil cases. They really should be stuffed back into the 90s, never to resurface in fashion again.

Brad Pitt

Another star to have two entries on our list. This particular look just isn't the clean-cut gentleman that we have all come to know and love. We vote NOT going for an audition for Thor.

Brad Pitt

What happened in the 90s is this: get a short(ish) haircut, get the tips died blonde, and put an entire tub of gel to fix it into spikes. Not nice to look at. Not nice to touch either.

Hillary Duff

Oh dear, it's a shame to say that many people in the 90s put chopsticks in their hair. Why? Honestly, who knows where the fashion began but we are pretty glad it ended.

Liz Taylor's hair... and her husband's

Oh, those wonderful nineties with the big hairdos! Liz Taylor and fiancé Larry Fortensky, both styled by the same hairdresser, belong in a gallery of weird fashion trends in the closing decade of the twentieth century. This photo is from 1991.

Marilyn Manson

1998. Marilyn Manson was on stage at the MTV Awards with one of his quirky looks. On this occasion, he wore a light blue coat with a fur collar and a new orange hair dye that neatly matched his make-up.

Naomi Campbell

This model rarely looks anything less than spotless. This haircut, however, has gone down in history as one of the weirdest (and most memorable) dos of the 90s. The asymmetrical bob pretty much just looks like she got her hair cut with her hair on a tilt. Error.

Kelly Clarkson

America's Sweetheart but succumbed to the fashion of the 90s. She sported, along with many others, a hairdo with some seriously thick and unnatural highlights.

Mariah Carey

Mariah kept with the 80s perm and rocked it throughout most of the 90s. There were times, however, when her daily stylists took a break and left her to hairdryer her hair herself. A big mistake; and her hair often took a life of its own.

Jude Law

Everything is wrong about this hairdo. The brassy yellowy orangey color; the curls, the weird length at different points, and the gel. A miss for the heartthrob.

Boris Johnson

He hasn't changed.

Will Smith

The Prince of Bel-Air was one of the most-watched TV shows of all time. Will Smith made a name for himself and made... this haircut. The square-top buzz cut. It's not too offensive though as it's Will Smith. He can pull anything off, right?

Diana, Princess of Wales

The late Princess Diana rarely put a foot wrong. She changed Royal fashion forever and brought the monarchy closer to the people. This is one of those rare moments the People's Princess chose poorly and she opted for the slick back, just out-of-the-shower look.

Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani basically IS the nineties. That is why she deserves three entries on our list. Starting with this strange plaited pigtail look. Is it a braid? Is it dreadlocks? Even if you stare at the photo long enough, the answer won't come to you.

Gwen Stefani

The pink. The fringe. The two words that just come to you when you look at this nineties-pic of the singer. Fair enough, it's pushing boundaries and apt for a rocker, but perhaps she should never, ever, ever revisit this one again.

Gwen Stefani

Not her worst out of the three looks but this 'My Little Pony' pink sheeny colour just doesn't look right. Pair that with some dark red lipstick and you have a mismatch made in the 90s.

Madonna

Another artist who was able to take fashion to its limits. The issue with this hairstyle, however, is not the fashion, it's simply how uncomfortable it looks. You can see the poor singers' skin receiving a facelift from the tight up-do. It's a no.

Christina Aguilera

Another 90s icon, Christina Aguilera started out as the sweet, blonde, girl next door. It doesn't mean she had to give us this hair style, though. The corn-row braids, pulled back into a strange dreadlock/curl nest is not a look we want to remember.

Christina Aguilera

The singer then made a drastic change in her life, musical style, and fashion. Upon releasing the worldwide hit, 'Dirrty', Christina added a darker layer not only to her persona, but also to her hair. The black bottom layer under a blonde cover was, unfortunately, a fashion for a rather long time. It was called 'the skunk look' unsurprisingly.

Christina Aguilera

Then the singer changed the black to pink. It's not bad, but she added some crimping to the equation and it's safe to say that it wasn't her best look.

Julia Roberts

Nothing against Julia Robert's incredible curls, but there were times they really flew out of control.

Drew Barrymore

Barrymore in this photo is quintessentially 90s. The flicked-out bob, the hair clip and the pink temporary hair dye. She's got it all.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon has become one of the world's most loved women in Hollywood and today, at 45 years old, she looks impeccable. Back in the 90s, however, when she was just starting out, she followed the 90s trend and was photographed in history sporting these spiky buns. It was an error many, many people made.

Reese Witherspoon

The actress appears twice on this list as we can't leave out this incredible shot of her so young and innocent but sporting a hairdo that's meant for someone much older, wearing red lipstick and with a face powdered so white you would think she was in a vampire movie.
