Trump claims Biden is dropping out and insults Kamala Harris
Donald Trump is riding high after the first debate. Following Joe Biden's weak performance, the former president is feeling very strong, and his recent comments confirm just how much the debate boosted his confidence.
According to several media outlets, a video clip was shared on Trump's Truth Social website in which he spoke about Biden's debate performance and insulted Vice President Kamala Harris.
Speaking from a golf buggy, Donald Trump told the camera that he believes that Kamala Harris will be the new Democratic nominee, saying, "She's so bad. She's so pathetic. She's just so f***ing bad."
In the video, which is also now circulating on X (formerly Twitter), Donald Trump then went on to brag about his performance at the Atlanta debate last week.
Trump said, "How did I do with the debate the other night? I kicked that old, broken down pile of c r a p. He's quitting the race. I got him out of the race, and that means we have Kamala."
Trump added that Biden's weak debate performance clearly indicates that he isn't up for the job.
Trump said Biden would not be able to handle tough talks with the leaders of some of the countries with which America has "challenging" relationships.
Trump said, "Can you imagine him with dealing with Putin and the president of China, who's a fierce person? He's a fierce man. Very tough guy."
Finally, Trump declared that Biden is quitting the race, saying, "They've just announced he's (Biden) probably quitting." Although there has been no official announcement yet, Trump may be on to something.
Since Biden's sad debate performance, several Democrats have begun to call on the president to withdraw from the presidential race.,
On July 3, The New York Times reported that Arizona Democrat Raúl Grijalva urged Biden not to run, making him the second sitting Democrat to do so.
The day before on Tuesday, July 2, CNN reported that Democratic Rep. Lloyd Doggett of Texas became the first sitting Democratic member of Congress to call on President Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential race.
Doggett said what many elected Democrats had been thinking and a bit too afraid to speak aloud, opening the door for others to do so as well.
In his statement, Doggett said, "I represent the heart of a congressional district once represented by Lyndon Johnson. Under very different circumstances, he made the painful decision to withdraw. President Biden should do the same."
Joe Biden's nomination to run against Donald Trump in the November presidential elections will become official at the Democratic Party convention in August. At this point, the only way for Joe Biden to be replaced would be to voluntarily step down.
If Biden gives into pressure and decides not to run, his Vice President, Kamala Harris, would be one of the top contenders for the nomination.
