The 2024 Formula 1 season has ended after a hectic race in Abu Dhabi. The season was filled with unpredictable twists, with new drivers and new teams challenging to take the top spot. Here are the moments that defined it.

11. McLaren win the Constructors' Championship

After some superb racing from Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, McLaren ended Red Bull and Mercedes' Constructors' dominance by winning their first Constructors' Championship since 1998 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

10. Norris's first win in Miami

After 110 races, Norris's finally enjoyed his breakthrough victory in Miami, which proved to be a defining moment. His dominant drive on the challenging street circuit showcased his growth and solidified McLaren's resurgence as a top-tier team, as Sky Sports reported.

9. Russell’s surprise win in Austria

Austria provided unexpected excitement when George Russell capitalized on a collision between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris. His victory marked Mercedes' return to the top step of the podium after two challenging seasons.

8. Hamilton’s home victory at Silverstone

In front of a passionate British crowd, Lewis Hamilton's win at Silverstone was emotional and historic. Battling tricky wet-dry conditions. The win, which saw the veteran star break down in tears on the podium, broke a 31-month drought in race wins, as the Independent reported at the time.  

 

7. Bearman’s stellar debut in Saudi Arabia

Called up as a last-minute replacement, 19-year-old Oliver Bearman impressed the paddock with a seventh-place finish. His composed performance earned him recognition as a rising star and a full-time Haas seat for 2025.

Before Russell's win, the Austria GP saw an intense on-track battle between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris. Although it ended in a collision, the rivalry provided thrilling racing and set the tone for a competitive season, with Norris showing here that he would not be intimidated by Verstappen's aggressive tactics.
