Joel Embiid wins the NBA MVP: A look at his most incredible games!

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid claimed the NBA Most Valuable Player award this week, winning it for the first time in his career.

Embiid secured 73 out of 100 first-place votes, beating out previous MVPs Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo, who finished second and third, respectively.

The Sixers' big man had been close to winning the award in the last two seasons, finishing second behind Jokic on both occasions.

Embiid led the league in scoring for the second straight year, averaging 33.1 points per game, 10.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.7 blocks.

According to TNT's 'NBA Tip Off,' Embiid said: "It's been a long time coming, a lot of hard work. You know I've been through a lot, and I'm not just talking about basketball. I'm talking about everything in life."

When the basketball world started to question whether Embiid was the right candidate to be selected for MVP at the start of April, The Sixers star dropped 52 points against the current playoff opposition, the Boston Celtics.

As well as 52 points, Embiid posted 13 rebounds and six assists as the Sixers won the game by the narrowest of margins, 103-101.

In December last year, Embiid and The Sixers schooled the 7-20 Charlotte Hornets, defeating them 113-131, with Embiid putting on a 34-minute clinic.

In some of his least number minutes on the floor, Embiid posted 52 points on 62% from the field, grabbed 12 rebounds, and three assists. The center went 11 of 11 from the free-throw line.

Joel Embiid scored a career-high 59 points in Philadelphia's 105-98 victory over the Utah Jazz in November last year.

Embiid was exceptional on both ends of the floor, producing 11 rebounds, eight assists, and seven blocks, nearly becoming the second player in NBA history to finish with a quadruple-double (the first being David Robinson).
