How legendary NBA star Tony Parker is still making a fortune

In 2019, Tony Parker decided to leave the NBA and professional basketball after 17 years of playing for the San Antonio Spurs and a season for the Charlotte Hornets. But retirement has been anything but chill for this driven jack-of-all-trades.

At 37 years old, the French point guard realized that "I can no longer be Tony Parker, I can't fight for the ring, so I don't want to play basketball anymore," he explained in an interview with Landscape.

Tony Parker's NBA legacy is historic: 4 MVP rings, 4 All NBA Team, and a Finals MVP are just some of his achievements.

Although Parker wasn't in this Supermax period, he enjoyed economic success. Tony Parker earned around $12 million per season during the 18 seasons he played in the NBA.

This NBA legend was also a chart-topping French rapper. While playing for the San Antonio Spurs, he released the album TP. It was a massive hit in France with the single Balance-Toi debuting at No. 1 in the French charts and selling over 10,000 units.

But who could imagine that after the NBA, Tony Parker would become a successful business owner? In a sense, what he's done post-playing basketball has been equally important.

The former NBA player not only knows where to invest all the money that almost two decades in the NBA provided, but he's not afraid of having more than one business.

In fact, the same day he officially announced his retirement, Tony Parker assured everyone he was going to be busy. And he wasn't lying. For starters, with his work as the president and owner of the basketball team, ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne.

Being at the front of one of the best teams in the EuroLeague is combined with amazing work in his own academy. Tony Parker has the 'Tony Parker Adéquat Academy' which is an international training school located in Lyon, where he works with hundreds of young people to give their sports careers a boost.

Being the president of a professional basketball team and running a training academy would be enough work for the rest of the mortals, but not for Tony Parker. The list of businesses goes on and on.

Along with his friend, partner, and 'brother,' fellow NBA player Nicolas Batum, and just before retiring, Tony Parker announced the acquisition of two ski stations in Isère in the French Alps.

Tony Parker owns 76,9% of the SEVLC assets which is the company that controls the ski tracks and slopes of the Villard-de-Lans and Corrençon-en-Vercors stations.

Funnily enough, Tony Parker was forbidden to ski by his NBA contract. Once he retired, he could finally break free and learned to ski... in his own two ski resorts, of course.

Lastly, one of Tony Parker's most successful business adventures is equestrianism. Again with his partner Nico Batum, Tony Parker acquired a stable of horses in Normandy in 2021. Their horses are already winning races and 'Mangoustine' is their champion.

In May 2022, Mangoustine, who he purchased for around $50,000 struck gold by winning a big victory in the French Oaks. That win alone was worth over $300,000, and that single horse has won around $500,000 in total. His other horse Parker, had a big win in 2023 as well.

The former NBA player is not alone in his multiple business adventures. He's accompanied by his new girlfriend, the French tennis player Alizé Lim. Parker also has two children Parker with his ex-wife, the fashion journalist Axelle Francine.
