The hangover from Real Madrid's heavy defeat in the Champions League still continues (Manchester City scored up to four goals, taking them out of the European Championship final) and while it's heartbreaking for Madrid, not everyone is feeling sorry for the Spanish giants. María Guardiola was one person who could not hide their glee after the incredible win, and was quick to praise her father's efforts in coaching the English side.

Masterclass

"Another soccer master class. Genius," the young influencer posted alongside an image with her mother, Cristina Serra, at the Etihad Stadium.

Daughter's pride

"Proud," Guardiola's daughter said in her Instagram stories, "I love you."

Salt in the wounds of Real Madrid fans

While it's fitting praise from a proud daughter, Maria's words have not been received well by Real Madrid fans.

"Lacking goal hunger"

Fans may be a little touchy here though as Real Madrid, according to insider reports, appears to be struggling with internal issues, as well as a lack of "goal hunger" on the field that led to its unceremonious exit from the Champions League in the semi-final.

Another LaLiga title to Barca

Also taking into account Real is once again also playing second fiddle to FC Barcelona this year, having already claimed the LaLiga title, and could quite possibly end up in third place under their other key rivals – Athletico Madrid.

Is Barça the best team in Spain?

Straight to the heart

Let's not forget the Guardialoa's ties to Barca here. Pep has a long history with the Catalan side, having played for and coached them prior to his stints in Bayern Munich and Manchester City, so Maria's quick praise – also a Catalan native – was never going to go down well with the Real Madrid fans.

Heading towards the final

"Now, to Istanbul," María Guardiola herself points out through her Instagram account. "I don't know how to describe what Pep Guardiola is doing. He is a genius."

The best coach in history

"He does everything perfectly. He is the best coach in history."

Come on!

"There is one last game left and we will become European champions. I trust them. Let's go!"
