9. Williams’ favorite city is Miami

It’s always interesting to hear about the favorite locations of people who have the means to go anywhere they want. In an interview with Here Magazine, Williams tabbed Miami as her favorite city.

A diverse place

Williams said, “Miami has something for everyone. Between the amazing art scene, the food, the culture, and a wide range of sporting events, you can never run out of things to do. It just has such a beautiful vibrance to it. I’ve made so many amazing memories in Miami, and I cannot wait to make many more.”

8. She has her own autographed racket

Only tennis players of a certain stature are able to get their own customized tennis racket. Williams’ resume certainly earned her that respect, and Wilson rewarded her by creating the Blade SW104 Autograph Racket in her name.

Rare company

Before Williams, Wilson only created autographed rackets for Jack Kramer, Billie Jean King, Chris Evert and Roger Federer.

7. Williams’ Super Bowl dance was done at another event

Super Bowl LIX’s halftime show received a lot of attention for what it brought to the table. Serena Williams made a cameo appearance, and had a great time. She posted on Instagram, “That was crazy. That was the best 10 seconds of my life. 10 seconds!” Williams’ moves got noticed a few months earlier, which allowed her the chance to dance at the Super Bowl.

Gold medal moves

Williams posted on Instagram, “When Kendrick Lamar and team called and was like we’ve been trying to do something forever, what about this? We loved your crip walk at the Olympics after you won the gold medal.”

6. Williams used to carb-load before matches

It’s all about eating like a champion before the match even starts, and Serena understood the importance of that. Williams told Women’s Health Magazine, “The only time I eat pasta is when I’m playing/training. Usually, you’ll never see me eating pasta otherwise. Cause I feel like I’ve had to eat it so much in my career.”

Regimented

Williams continued, “I can have a smoothie for six months, and then I’ll be like, I never want to see a smoothie again for the next six months. And then I’ll be like, okay, I’m back on the smoothie. My eating is very moody.”

5. She has her own company

Williams has proven that there’s nothing she can’t accomplish when she sets her mind to something, and that’s true in the business world as well. She has her own venture capital fund called Serena Ventures, which she launched in 2017.

Pristine picks

Serena has shown that she has a good eye for what makes a successful business. According to Women’s Agenda, Williams invested in 14 companies that have reached unicorn status. This means that these companies are now worth over $1 billion.

4. Williams was a huge fan of King Richard

Creative projects can sometimes go astray, especially when they deal with profiling people on their rise to prominence. However, Serena Williams was very happy with the way the movie King Richard came out. Williams was an executive producer on the film.

Main takeaway

Williams told Forbes, “I think it was a great opportunity to see how amazing African-American fathers are. A lot of Black men aren’t seen in that light. And a lot of people think that my dad was a different character. He wanted us to have fun first over anything. That’s the thing that I loved most.”

3. She met her husband by chance

Serena Williams is married to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. The two met randomly in May 2015 at a breakfast in Rome, when they were seated next to each other according to People. The story has it that Williams made the first move, inviting Ohanian to sit with her and her friends.

New loves

What’s ironic is that Ohanian was not a fan of the sport his future wife dominated. He told Vanity Fair that he “never watched a match on television or in real life. I really had no respect for tennis.” That has obviously changed, as Ohanian would attend Williams’ matches and cheer her on when they became a couple.

2. Williams has a car collection worth over $700,000

People have asked why people need to own more than one car if they only have one rear end. It’s a fair point, but when you’re as successful as Williams has been and continues to be, you can afford to spend lavishly on vehicles. ClutchPoints took a closer look at five cars she has that help make up a collection worth over $700,000.

The rides

She has a 2017 Mini Cooper S, a 2018 Lincoln Navigator, a 2020 Lincoln Continental Coach Door Edition, a 2024 Bentley Continental GT and an Aston Martin Vanquish.

1. Williams played Venus Williams 31 times professionally

It’s not very easy, but it’s a tournament and we all know that there’s more to life than just playing each other and playing tennis.”
