Elon Musk's appearances in movies and TV series

Elon Musk is known for being a tech entrepreneur and one of the wealthiest men alive. As any other celebrity, it’s no surprise that he have had special appearances on screen through the years. Here are all of Elon Musk’s cameos, so far!

The South African billionaire’s on-screen debut was in the 2006 satire ‘Thank You For Smoking’. Musk played a flight attendant, helping Aaron Eckhart’s character to get into a private plane.

Musk was one of the movie producers (along with his fellow PayPal founder Peter Thiel) and lent his private plane for the scene.

The founder of Tesla and SpaceX has been compared to Tony Stark, better known as Iron Man, on several occasions, but he actually had a chance to meet the fictional tech billionaire in the 2010 movie ‘Iron Man 2’.

Not only that, but part of the movie was shot in the SpaceX headquarters and Musk even gave a private tour of the facilities to Robert Downey Jr.

This would hardly be the last time the South African billionaire met geek icons on the screen.

In a 2015 episode, Musk met with Howard Wolowitz from ‘The Big Bang Theory’. Though probably, the best, funniest encounter he had with the group took place in the spin-off.

Musk briefly appeared in episode 6 of ‘Young Sheldon’ where it was revealed that the founder of SpaceX had stolen ideas written down by Sheldon Cooper when he was a kid.

Some cameos are a bit more subdued. At that time, Elon Musk was in the audience of a scientific talk made by Johnny Depp’s character in the 2014 science fiction movie ‘Transcendence’.

Or when he briefly exchanged words with a dad played by Bryan Cranston who tries to stop his daughter from marrying a childish tech entrepreneur played by James Franco in the 2016 romantic comedy ‘Why him?’.

Other cameos are out of this world, such as the time Musk and SpaceX helped Danny Trejo’s character to go to space at the end of ‘Machete Kills’.

The Tesla founder was also shown to be one of the celebrities that are secretly aliens in ‘Men In Black: International’.

Speaking of aliens, Musk is no alien to the world of animation. He voiced himself in the final three episodes of season 20 of South Park.

Musk also provided the voice in ‘Rick and Morty’ of an alternative universe version of himself called Elon Tusk, who runs Tuskla.

However, Musk’s most extensive foray into the world of animation is with everyone’s favorite family from Springfield.

In the season 26 episode ‘The Musk Who Fell from Earth’ from ‘The Simpsons’, the tech billionaire meets Homer, Marge, Bart, and Lisa and tries to use his inventions to improve the lives of the people of Springfield. Lisa even describes him as “the greatest living inventor”.
