The mysteries of Matthew Perry's death: Where is his money?
Matthew Perry passed away in October 2023 but controversies surrounding his death and his legacy continue to blemish our memories of the star.
Besides the criminal charges for the cause of his death, the actor's enormous assets have been in the news. According to The Sun, the man who played Chandler in 'Friends' had a net worth of 120 million dollars.
His family, friends, and especially the possible heirs were shocked when they looked at Matthew Perry's bank account after his death. They saw that he 'only' had 1.5 million dollars on it. What had happened to the remaining 118.5 million?
The answer appeared simple: the actor had put a large part of his assets in a trust fund which managed its assets until it was time to divide the money among his beloved family members.
As a curious fact, the trust fund in which Matthew Perry was reported to have deposited his fortune is called 'Alvy Singer Living Trust'. It's a reference to Woody Allen's character in 'Annie Hall', one of his favorite films, according to People magazine.
In the inventory left by the actor, four people appear as legitimate heirs to his fortune: John Perry, his father; Suzanne Morrison, his mother; Caitlin Morrison, his stepsister; and Rachel Dunn, his former partner.
These four people share the fortune accumulated by the actor, in addition to the two houses that appear in the name of Alvy Singer LLC. One of them is the house in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, where he died.
The actor was 54 years old when he died on October 28, 2023. Due to the conditions in which it occurred, his death has been investigated by the police for months.
