Septic shock nearly killed Ashley Park, actress from 'Emily in Paris', 'Beef'
2024 looked like an exciting year for Ashley Park, an actress flooded with acclaimed and well-known projects.
She's not just known for 'Emily in Paris', the Netflix show in which she plays Mindy Chen.
Ashley Park is also part of famous series like 'Beef' and 'Only Murders in the Building' (image, Disney+). In addition, she has a cameo coming up in the movie 'Mean Girls.' You could say the actress had the world smiling at her.
However, the start of the year has been extremely complicated for Ashley Park. She contracted tonsillitis on vacation and it worsened until it caused a critical septic shock.

"While on holiday in December into New Years, what started as tonsillitis spiraled into critical septic shock, which infected and affected several of my organs," she said on Instagram.
"I am grateful that my health has improved despite what we had initially been told," the actress continues. And she's right, because septic shock can be deadly.

As the NHS states, "Septic shock is a life-threatening condition that happens when your blood pressure drops to a dangerously low level after an infection. Any type of bacteria can cause the infection."
In fact, Ashley Park states in her Instagram post that she didn't write about the illness until she was certain that it would end well. "I now know I’m safely on the other side of the worst," she says.
The statement was accompanied by three photos and a video of herself in the hospital. Her partner, the actor Paul Forman who plays Nicholas in 'Emily in Paris', was by Ashley's side. He has been her great support during this traumatic experience.

She directly addresses Paul Forman in her message on Instagram: "Grateful most of all to @peforman for being unconditionally by my side through all this."
"You calmed my fears and held me through ambulances, three foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, scary ERs, countless scans and tests and injections, excruciating pain, and so much confusion all while we were alone on the other side of the world far from those we know." A scary experience, indeed.
"I love you Paul. More than I can ever say," she tells her boyfriend and co-star in 'Emily in Paris.' He certainly proved that he was serious about her!
