Paranormal Activity: couple forced to sleep on balcony due to ghost

Many of us do not believe in the paranormal, but some change their mind after real-life encounters with ghostly manifestations. This is what happened to a couple in the town of Replonges, France, in 2020.

The French couple, Patricia and David, moved into an apartment building that was only a few years old. Constructed in 2016, it was clean, bright, and spacious. However, what was to be a happy event for Patricia and David turned into a nightmare.

In addition, before Patricia and David moved in, the apartment had been rented twice. For the previous residents, there were no problems with paranormal activities at all, the French magazine Le Progrès reported.

However, David and Patricia were convinced that their new apartment was haunted by a ghost displeased with the couple moving in. "It started with black shadows," the frightened couple told Le Progrès. "Then it got worse: the lights would turn off, the TV turned on by itself, the phone would act up, the utensils would rattle and move on their own..."

The French couple was so afraid of the spirit in their apartment that they were unable to sleep in their room for over a month. In addition, they asked to be relocated. But is a claim that a house is haunted a valid motive to dissolve a rental contract? Or can it help you negotiate a good price for a sale?

Living with the fear and the paranormal activity in their apartment made the couple's life hellish. As a result, they moved into a tent on the balcony of their apartment.

Living on the balcony isn't a viable long-term solution, especially during winter, so in November, the couple called upon an expert in paranormal matters to try to understand and hunt the bothersome entity.

According to the paranormal investigator, the ghost inhabiting David and Patricia's home was a woman who lived in the 19th century. This spirit was trapped within the apartment and trying everything possible to evict David and Patricia from their home. It was information that certainly didn't help to calm the couple's nerves!

As a result of the spirit's efforts to dislodge them, the couple had to take precautions. For example, they avoided storing their personal belongings in the cabinets and closets of the apartment, using boxes instead. If they did use the closets, the ghost woman would toss the contents about. "The shoes, the laundry.... everything was thrown on the floor," David and Patricia said.

You may think this is only a thing of fiction, but many people have noticed some kind of paranormal activity in their homes (whether it was actually there or not). And did you know that there's an online register of ghosts detected in houses?

The 'Died In House' website (pictured) lets you find out if a tragedy ever took place in your apartment. The idea came to Roy Condrey after receiving a nocturnal message from one of his tenants warning him of strange activity on his property.

Roy scoured the web for information and found that many tenants and potential buyers wondered about the 'safety' of the premises before moving in.

Generally, homes in which a murderous tragedy has occurred don't sell very well at all. However, this can be a godsend for the brave, as these types of homes are often sold at a steep discount!

In April 2011, in Nantes, France, the homicide of an entire family made the headlines. A mother and her four children were found buried on their property after being methodically murdered by the head of the family. Following such a tragedy, how can a home that has had such horror occur within its walls be put back on the market?

The house of this massacre could not be sold until 2015, four years after the tragedy. The latency period is undoubtedly explained by the fear of potential buyers. Over time, the price had been lowered from 490,000 to 290,000 euros.

In 2019, the house was renovated and sold for 479,000 euros. It was the second sale since the tragedy. With the price going up, it seemed as though the scare of the house had dissipated. But you must also admit that the first buyers of this property did not stay long...

Superstition? Fantasy? With the lack of hard evidence, frightened tenants usually don't have a case against landlords when they describe paranormal threats. There's no way out but to leave. If you lack the financial means of another move, a final option, then, is to befriend the spirits within the walls of your home.
