Cher opens up about her mother's final moments - Georgia Holt died at age 96

Since the death of her mother, Cher has had a hard time moving on. She shares the pain of mourning with her followers on Twitter: "Can’t sleep very well." Cher's mother, Georgia Holt, died on December 11 at the age of 96.

"The truth…" Cher recounted on Twitter, "She’s been Sick, & rallying, she then got bad, She was in so much pain."

The singer and actress revealed that she wasn't there when her mother let out her last breath. "Finally she coded on way to [the hospital]," Cher writes. "By [the] time we Got to Hosp…. The Woman Who Was MY KICK *** MOM was No [longer] Here"

"Mom would be So thrilled that people from all over the world are talking about her with love & admiration."

"Truth is… I TOOK MOMS VOICE & HER DREAM & MADE THEM REAL," Cher relates. "She couldn’t manifest them, so I did it 4 her, & made her happy."

Cher also talks a little about her mother's state of health in her last days. "This may sound strange, but mom Was so sick for So Long. Was in Constant pain. Now she’s free."

Cher wants to celebrate the life of her wonderful mother. She also asks that, when she herself passes, her life be celebrated with joy.

When Georgia Holt died on December 11, Cher tweeted three short words to her millions of followers: "Mom is gone."

Georgia Holt turned 96 in June 2022. While the cause of her death has not been disclosed, Cher's tweets suggest that her mother had been sick for a while.

Her death was likely related to the health problems she had in recent months. Cher had told her followers about them.

"Mom's Been Sick Off & On. She Just Got Out Of Hosp. She Had Pneumonia," Cher declared shortly before her mother's death, in late November 2022.

Despite her age and illness, Cher always hoped that her mother, with whom she had a wonderful relationship, would accompany her for a few more years.

After the news of her death was released, many expressed their affection for Cher and her family. Thousands of people, both celebrities and anonymous followers, gave their condolences to Cher and made statements about Georgia Holt.

Georgia Holt was what everyone would have imagined Cher's mother to be like. Born in 1926 in Arkansas, she began in the world of music when she was only 10 years old.

That year, Georgia Holt released her first country album: 'Honky Tonk Woman.' She was 86 years old at the time of the release, although the album had already been recorded in the early 1980s.

Georgia Holt stood out for her hectic love life. She married six times, and twice with the same man.

John Sarkisian, Cher's father, is honored to have been Georgia Holt's first and fifth husband. What's more, he also occupies the same position in the artist's list of divorces.

John Southall, her second husband, would be the father of her second daughter, Georganne. When Georgia married Gilbert Hartmann LaPiere, he legally adopted Georganne and Cher.
