Michael Chiarello, TV chef, dies from allergic reaction
Chiarello was a television star, having made his way to become a reputable, beloved, and acclaimed chef. However, on Sunday, October 8, he passed away at the age of 61.
The former 'Food Network' star died at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, California, from an acute allergic reaction that resulted in anaphylactic shock, TMZ confirmed.
The Chiarello Group, Michael Chiarello's own company, informed of the death officially via a statement shared with the media.
"His culinary brilliance, boundless creativity, and unwavering commitment to family were at the core of his being. He brought people together through the joy of shared meals, fostering lasting memories around the table," the statement said.
In his last hours, Michael Chiarello was surrounded by his family and friends. They have shared the meaning of Michael's life - not just as a family member or a friend, but as a chef who brought incredible gastronomic creations to the world.
"As we navigate this profound loss, we hold dear the moments we cherished with him, both in his kitchens and in our hearts. His legacy will forever live on in the love he poured into every dish and the passion he instilled in all of us to savor life’s flavors", the statement concluded.
For more than a decade, Michael Chiarello hosted culinary programs on PBS, Fine Living, the Cooking Channel and Food Network. His ability and ease in front of the camera was almost as outstanding as behind the stove.
In fact, 'Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello', which aired on Food Network for 10 seasons (2003-2006), went on to win three Emmy Awards.
In addition, the chef also participated in renowned programs such as 'The View', 'Top Chef', 'The Next Iron Chef', 'The Today Show' and 'Chopped', among others.
during more than 35 years as an entrepreneur, Michael Chiarello opened 10 restaurants. The best known of these has to be 'Bottega', located in Yountville, California.
His cuisine became well known for its striking combination of his southern Italian roots, fused together with the recognizable characteristics of California's Napa Valley environment.
In fact, the first restaurant he opened, 'Tra Vigne', back in 1986, was located in Napa Valley. This is where he started on his journey, establishing his gastronomic and television empire.
At the same time as his restaurant and TV success, Michael Chiarello has written eight recipe books since 1995. Then, as always food needs a good accompaniment, he established the Chiarello Family Vineyards in the late 1990s.
A whole life dedicated to gastronomy has ended abruptly at the age of 61. May he rest in peace. The Chiarello group left one last 'food for thought' for those mourning the death of the chef.
