These women were important in the life of Liam Payne
Liam Payne lost his life on 16th October 2024 in Buenos Aires. He was just 31 years old. Despite his age, the young man had been in the music business for many years and lived through many rocky relationships. Most of them did not pass the test of time.
Liam Payne never seemed to have much luck in love. His relationships ended abruptly and the singer confessed to not being the best version of himself in relationships. At the time of his death, he was in a relationship with model Kate Cassidy, as E! News confirms.
The ex-One Direction singer and the American model were together in Payne's final days. Kate Cassidy was in South America just before Liam's death. As E! News reports, she flew back to Miami on October 14, just days before Liam tragically fell from the balcony of his hotel room.

The couple only planned to visit for five days but ended up staying for two weeks. Kate was ready to go home, but Liam stayed on alone. As she said in a TikTok video, "I was so ready to leave... Honestly, love South America but I hate staying in one place for too long."
The couple had shared some of their trip on Instagram, including a story published just hours before Payne's death, as E! News tells us. The pair looked like they were having a great time, recording themselves enjoying their day and eating late breakfasts. Nothing that could have given any hint of what was to come...

The first time the couple had been seen together, two years earlier, The Mirror reported they were "mad about each other". The couple allegedly "looked smitten" with each other as they left a nightclub in Mayfair, London.
Could this young lady have been the 'one' for Payne after a rollercoaster list of failed romances?

In May 2022, Liam Payne was spotted with singer Aliana Mawla. They were papped at Heathrow airport, arm-in-arm. Although it was never confirmed they were dating, the pair were looking very comfortable with each other. An insider said to The Sun, "To say they were boyfriend and girlfriend is far too strong, but they were obviously seeing each other".
"They both had fun but it's fizzed out and are now both very much single. There's no bad blood," the insider continued. Another end for another relationship for Liam Payne.
Aliana came swiftly after it was confirmed Payne and his on-and-off fiancee, Maya Henry, had finally split for good. Their relationship had been a rollercoaster ride.
Maya and Liam were first linked in 2018 and quickly became the talk of the town. They seemed perfectly happy until 2021. Liam Payne even asked Maya Henry to marry him in 2020.
Then, suddenly, in 2021, Payne broke up with his fiancée. In his own words on the 'Diary of a CEO' podcast by Steven Barlett, he said he "wasn't giving a very good version of me anymore" and that he was "disappointed in myself that I keep on hurting people."
A few months later, however, the couple seemed to have reconciled. They were seen back together and Maya had started wearing her engagement ring again. The model/influencer showed the ring to her followers on Instagram.
In the next year, May 2022, Liam Payne's representative confirmed to J-14 that the couple had once again broken up. This time, it appeared to be for real and Payne moved on with Aliana and Kate. However, the story with Maya was not entirely over...
The singer's erratic behavior in his final days does not seem to have been an isolated event. Maya Henry told her TikTok followers in October 2024, a few days before Liam's death, that the singer had stalked her online and harassed her and her family by phone for years. She even filed a cease-and-desist letter to Payne in response to the obsessive behavior she accused him of.
Before Maya Henry, another high-profile relationship of Liam Payne was with Cheryl Cole, the former Girls Aloud singer and judge on 'X Factor.' The couple started dating in 2016 and had a child together, Bear, in 2017. They broke up in 2018.
In a conversation with Ant Middleton on his series 'Straight Talking', Liam remembered when he and Cheryl first got together. "I went to Simon [Cowell]'s house and made a joke about how hot Cheryl was. Simon was like, 'I know who’s going to be the next Mrs Payne!'"
"Then, I was in a bar and Niall [Horan] came in and told me that Cheryl liked me. I was like 'Cheryl? Cheryl?' ... So I hit her up." He joked to Ant Middleton: "Basically I won X Factor more than anyone."
Liam and Cheryl had a son after dating for about a year. At the time of Liam's death, the young Bear was 7 years old. Payne loved spending time with his son, but he also tried to keep his identity private as much as possible. "It’s a risk for anyone to see what he looks like. I haven’t even seen my kid go down a slide yet," he told Ant in 'Straight Talking' with some regret in his voice.
Payne was open-hearted to Middleton about the end of his relationship with Cheryl Cole. "Both of us struggled under the pressure - working away a lot, a lot of noise being shouted at us about it, having a child in the mix, we grew apart." The couple broke up in June 2018.
"As much as we're not together, she is one of the most important people - if not the most important person - in my life," Liam told Ant. "Even though we’re not together, Cheryl is always there for me, she understands what I'm going through."
Ultimately, as a dad, Liam Payne leaves behind his son Bear Grey. He called the boy his 'mini me' at his 31st birthday celebrations. Never knowing what could have been, the women in his life, as well as his family, friends, and fans, had to say goodbye to the singer, dad, and troubled celebrity.
