Ivanka Trump: how much is she worth? Her story of glamour and money

Traveling around the world and shaking the hands of its biggest leaders, speaking at Republican Party events like she's one of its leaders... in the past years, Ivanka Trump made sure we all know her name. But who is she, really? And how much money has she accumulated?

Ivanka Trump is a former model and businesswoman. Her biggest claim to fame, of course, is being the daughter of the former American president Donald Trump and his ex-wife Ivana.

Ivanka was 11 years old when her parents divorced in 1992. Together with her brothers, she went to live with her mother. Ivanka tried to see her father every day, and the two remained very close.

Ivanka Trump was born on October 30, 1981. From a very young age, she was kind of famous, as she was raised in a world of luxurious mansions and beauty pageants.

Ivanka decided to follow in her mother's footsteps and become a model when she was 17 years old.

Like her father, Ivanka studied at the Wharton Business School. Over time she became involved in several business affairs of the Trump family. Among other things, she was vice president of Real Estate Development of the Trump Organization.

Ivanka Trump designs jewelry. She began selling her own line of jewelry in her 'Ivanka Trump' store on Madison Avenue in New York.

Ivanka's fashion brand also included clothing, bags, shoes, and fragrances.

The businesswoman sold her bags for $200-300 a piece, and the jewelry could cost between $800 and $350,000.

Among Ivanka Trump's sources of income are all the brands and licenses associated with her name that sell around the world.

Before they sold it, Ivanka and her family got some fine returns from their investments in the Trump International Hotel in Washington DC. The hotel made between $5 and $21 million dollars a year.

According to Forbes, when the Trump siblings sold their shares in the hotel in 2019, they each made $10 million from it.

Add to this the more than 5 million she gains from a fund created in March 2017: the Ivanka M. Trump Business Trust. According to CNN, this fund is valued at more than 42 million.

In 2017, Ivanka published the book: 'Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success.' She earned around $300,000 with the publication. Of course, it's very likely - although the media have never been able to prove it - that the actual work for that book was done by a ghostwriter.

Forbes reporter Dan Alexander estimated in 2022 that Ivanka was worth about $375 million, "having started her own fashion brand and married into another rich family."

That rich family would be the Kushner clan. In 2009, Ivanka married the wealthy, educated Jared Kushner.

Rich, young, and good-looking, both spouses are offspring of real estate magnates, went to elite universities, and are part of New York's jet set.

Kushner has reportedly had various sources of income. Among others, he made some $1.3 million with an apartment rental company that manages more than 20,000 homes on the American East Coast. The company's bad service to its tenants landed Kushner a negative news cycle.

When her father became president in 2017, Ivanka got her own office in the White House. She participated in public appearances together with the president.

Donald Trump's daughter entered the White House as a principal advisor of her father.

Ivanka (ostensibly) took her work with the government very seriously and posted about it on her social media accounts.

Here, for example, you could see Ivanka driving a paver - with help from a professional, of course.

Meanwhile, Jared Kushner had a serious role in the White House that was less publicly visible. He became a principal adviser of his father-in-law, taking charge of diplomatic relations and communication with foreign partners.

Jared and Ivanka quickly found themselves at the center of a series of controversies. These included conflicts of interest with their private businesses, the absence of security clearances for the time they worked in the White House, and their involvement in international affairs that they knew very little about.

While Trump was in the White House, China approved 13 of Ivanka's new brands for registration, while many other American companies were turned down in the Asian country. It appeared as though she got special treatment because of her father's position.

More plainly, Ivanka took advantage of being the president's daughter by wearing her own collection's outfits on 68% of her public appearances. The percentage was calculated by The Wall Street Journal.

Her appearances were international, free publicity. Magazines and websites kept talking about her brand, giving it the exposure that it would never have achieved otherwise.

In the months after her father began campaigning for the presidency, the sales of Ivanka Trump's collection rose significantly.

The BBC calculated that her sales "increased 346% from January to February [2017] and 557%, compared with average orders last year."

Over time, however, Ivanka's brand of garments, shoes, and accessories suffered a decline once her father was presiding over the country. A number of chain stores decided not to sell her products any longer.

In addition, the brand had to limit its business affairs to avoid conflicts of interest when Ivanka got more involved in the White House.

In the end, Ivanka Trump terminated her clothing brand to dedicate all her time to politics.

Ivanka praised Oprah Winfrey's speech at the Golden Globes in 2018, where the TV host discussed sexual misconduct. She was ridiculed for her remarks because her father has been accused several times of sexual misconduct.

Ivanka tried to appear as an independent woman but she never publicly criticized her father's controversial statements during his presidency.

When they were in the White House, Ivanka claimed she could express her opinions anytime: "I say what I think, and my father agrees with me on many subjects."

When Trump's presidency ended in early 2021, Ivanka moved to Florida with her family.

She is currently living a relatively quiet life near Miami, Florida with her husband and three children.

In the book 'Fire and Fury,' released in 2018, Michael Wolff speculated that there was maybe a strategy on its way to help Ivanka become the future president of the United States.

In November 2022, however, Ivanka announced that she wasn't going to participate in her father's third bid for the White House.

Everything is possible in American politics. However, the Trump family will first have to deal with the controversies and legal issues that still surround their family.
