2022 in beautiful photos: Shining stars at the Venice Film Festival

In 2022, Venice was once again the background of a renowned film festival that draws stars from all over the world. They wear the most fabulous outfits, like this Schiaparelli on Cate Blanchett. She may have been the queen of the 2022 Venice Film Festival's red carpet.

The festival awarded Golden Lions for the best new releases. Among the attendants and nominees for an award was director Olivia Wilde. She wore a brilliant yellow Gucci gown.

At the presentation of her new movie 'Don't Worry Darling,' Wilde wore a striking and elegant green suit. She was accompanied by her cast members, from left to right:  Harry Styles, Gemma Chan, and Chris Prine.

At the photocall, stylish Harry struck a chord with both music, film, and fashion fans wearing his blue tie loosely knotted around his neck.

For his first time on the Venice Film Festival's red carpet, Styles chose a Gucci signature look reminiscent of the 1970s. His double-breasted jacket plays in shades of dark and light blue. Stylish!

Gemma Chan shines bright like a diamond in this Louis Vuitton gown. We love it, without any hesitation.

A very elegant Chris Pine chooses a two-colored suit in earthy hues for the red carpet of 'Don't Worry, Darling.' It's typically him, perhaps a little underdressed.

And then there's the woman who was conspicuously absent at the photo call of 'Don't Worry Darling'... its lead actress Florence Pugh! She did make it to the red carpet though, in this retro-looking dress by Valentino.

When the cast sat down to watch the movie, Florence Pugh sat as far away from director Olivia Wilde as possible. Are they on bad terms, as many media have suggested?

Awards gala veteran Marisa Tomei must have thought: with black and white, you never go wrong. But maybe, sometimes, you do... Though we do appreciate her stunning shoes.

The young actor's backless shirt as part of a fantastic monochrome outfit had everyone in Venice crazy. He walked the red carpet for the premiere of 'Bones and All.'

It's a slightly muted yellow, that of Phoebe Waller-Bridge's outfit, and a slightly naughty see-through. We allow the 'Fleabag' star to wear anything and everything.

Lots of fans showed up for the young stars of Venice: Harry Styles and Timothee Chalamet. But, oh my, Colin Farrell is in a whole other league! Impressive in Dior.

K-Pop royalty Yulee Choi wears a princess look. So much chiffon, so much embroidery... and so much lightness. We usually don't like 'meringue' looks, but her dress is ethereal and she is ineffable!

Her signature Saint Laurent gown is practically perfect, and she looks like a goddess.

Among the famous people gracing the Lido red carpet in the famous canal city was... Hillary Clinton!

The former Secretary of State and First Lady was in town for the premiere of 'White Noise.' Or, maybe, she was just coming from the beach in that light-blue caftan of hers and got lost on the way to the hotel... Who knows?

An amazing cat-eye for an intentionally simple and striking look. We have seen many black dresses on the Venice red carpet and some petticoat dresses similar to the one worn by Irina Shayk, but they are nothing compared to hers. She looks beautiful in this Pinko signature look.

The 'Westworld,' 'Creed,' and 'Thor' actress went all out with ruffles and a sparkling skirt. The design was by Armani Privé. Maybe it was too much?

At a film festival, you can really appreciate the versatility of a star's wardrobe. On day 2, Tessa Thompson chose a daring red dress for the red carpet. This Elie Saab model is a winner.

What if we told you we are totally fine with this Marc Jacobs worn by Tessa Thompson?

Pinko again on the red carpet, but this time to dress Stella Maxwell. Perfect! And, let's face it, so is her hair and makeup!

Some of the outfits that we've seen so far are dream dresses and impressive looks, like this one worn by Julianne Moore. It's a design by Valentino Couture.

On some occasions, there may have been some style slips. We'll give our opinion but leave it up to you to judge!

Lots of red and black in Venice: even the great Sigourney Weaver couldn't help herself and chose a Valentino jumpsuit for the occasion. Not bad, but maybe... it could be a little more?

When someone has style, she just has it. And Patricia Clarkson (from 'Sharp Objects,' 'State of the Union,' 'The Green Mile,') is of those people. A true diva in this original George Chakra.

English actress Mia Goth appeared in this gorgeous Dolce & Gabbana for the premiere of 'Pearl.'

We have a weakness for bows. Without the one on the neckline, perhaps, Sydney Sweeney's dress would be one we've seen over and over again. But the bow is there and it changes everything. Adorable.

Like some others, Simone Ashley could not resist the lure of the red on red carpet either, but the color is really the only thing in which she took a risk. The dress has the classic cut of gala gowns, and you can't go wrong with it. A bit of a safe bet?

British actress Jodie Turner-Smith wears a wonderful exception to the black and red on the Venice red carpet. A riot of color, signed by Christopher John Rogers for the premiere of 'The Kingdom: Exodus.' It may seem like it's too much, but it is not.

Disarming in this Gucci gown, Turner-Smith's look has everything: transparencies, contrasts, sparkle, and lots and lots of glamour. One of our favorites of the evening.

Canadian actress Taylor Russel is adorable in this green Balenciaga. Très chic!

A plunging neckline for this Armani Privé, chosen by the charming Julianne Moore. We love it!

We expected a little more from Brazilian model Alessandra Ambrosio. She chose a dress by Ermanno Scervino, but it may perhaps have been a little too predictable?

But let's face it, with this Alberta Ferretti model on the red carpet for 'The Kingdom: Exodus,' the supermodel makes up for the mistake. Stunning!

Adam Drive looked flawless in his Giorgio Armani tuxedo. He came for the premiere of 'White Noise,' a black comedy / horror movie in which he stars.

We know him as the revived rock star in 'Love Actually,' but there's much more to Bill Nighy! This look, for example... Elegant British charm never fails.

The American actress chose a black Gucci with a vertiginous slit for the red carpet of 'Bones And All.' A true diva look!

Melanie Laurent, known internationally for her role in 'Inglourious Basterds,' picked a gown by Gucci. We like the green that pops up: it gives sparkle and modernity to a classic (and rather beige) look!

And here is the English singer Pixie Lott wearing Giorgio Armani. She dared put on a  jumpsuit - which we like - and a striking color - which we also like.

A tuxedo in damask fabric by Armani Privé for Regé-Jean Page. Nothing else needed: this man looks fine in anything!

UK influencer and fashion blogger Victoria Magrath wore this little dress with a little embroidery and a little bit of color. (We didn't fall in love with it, could you tell?)

On another occasion, she wore an ethereal, colorful, sweet, and delicate look. Very nice!

American model Grace Elizabeth chose an Alberta Ferretti design without many surprises. It's one of those timeless models that never disappoint but don't leave you speechless either.

Three British actors in a row. Raffey Cassidy in a powder pink Valentino Couture looks like a fairy on the red carpet in Venice (and we love her). On the other hand, the choice of black for May Nivola and Sam Nivola is more sober: they are young, perhaps they could have dared more?

Belgian model Rose Bertram opted for a long train, wide volumes, bareback, and the fuchsia glimpse contrasting with the black: beautiful!

Cristiano Ronaldo's partner, Georgina Rodríguez, chose this satin model by Jenny for the red carpet of 'Tár.' The dress follows her shape, but the split and sabots, in our opinion, were a risky choice and ruin the final effect of the look. But perhaps you'd disagree!

When a Valentino is a Vintage Valentino, the conversation becomes serious. American YouTube star Emma Chamberlain knows it.

Director Noah Baumbach presented his 'White Noise' in a a total look signed by Gucci. It looks perfect.

We like the tone of blue chosen by Don Cheadle and we like the red of Bridgid Coulter's vestal style dress. Approved!

Iranian actress Leila Hatami appears classy in this Alberta Ferretti look.

The Brazilian beauty, who was Victoria's Secret's first openly transgender model, wore a pale pink slip dress by Armani Privé at the Venice Film Festival. We feel it's neither here or there.

Once again a Gucci look on the red carpet. The dress worn by American actress Greta Gerwig doesn't really blow us away.

American actress and model Zión Moreno wore a custom- made dress by Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini. You may either love it or hate it.

The Hungarian model and Dylan Sprouse's girlfriend appeared on the red carpet in this look with oriental references. It was signed by Armani Privé.

English model Oliver Cheshire wears a shirt that, perhaps, raises some doubts, but, overall, his look works.

The splendid Catherine Deneuve, who got a Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, wears an impeccable Saint Laurent. For the French actress, class and style have no age.
