Duggar family reacts to Josh's sentencing -"Twelve and half years isn't enough!"

Josh Duggar's family is going public with their thoughts and feelings on the oldest Duggar's 151-month prison sentence.

Josh received his sentencing on May 25 after being found guilty of possessing and distributing CSAM in December.

The Sun reported that the Judge Brooks told Josh his crimes were "the sickest of the sick." The judge continued, "You have done some very bad things. But in your life as a whole, you've done good things…"

"The true test of a man's character is what a man does when no one is watching," he said in the courtroom. "I find it aggravating about the lack of responsibility," Judge Brooks continued.

According to a court reporter from The Sun who attended the trial, Josh Duggar's wife Anna had "no visible reaction" to her husband's sentence.

The mother of seven has previously shared her belief that her husband is innocent and her intent to stand by her man on her Instagram account.

Josh Duggar's cousin, Amy King, who appeared on the family's reality show '19 Kids and Counting,' told Celebuzz, "Twelve and a half years isn't enough." Adding, "I hope that every single second he's there feels like an eternity."

King also shared a message for Anna Duggar before Josh's sentencing, urging Anna to leave her husband. Amy wrote, "Josh has chosen how history will remember him. By staying and supporting him you're allowing him to choose that for you, too." Amy also offered her cousin's wife support should she choose to leave the family fold.

Jill, Josh's sister, who, along with her husband Derick Dillard, has taken significant steps to create a new life for herself, away from her parents' strict rules, shared their reaction to the sentencing on their family website.

The Dillards wrote, "We are neither rejoicing nor disappointed by the sentence, but we are thankful it's finally over."

The couple continued, "Though some believe Josh should have received a greater sentence and still fewer believe he should have received a lighter sentence, God has carried out his vengeance today for his unspeakable criminal activity."

Jill and Derick then went on to talk about the importance of Josh finally being held accountable for his actions: "Until now, he has yet to be held accountable to the extent necessary to cause change in his dangerous pattern of behavior."

The Dillards continued, "It is unfortunate, but it seems that it may take spending over a decade in federal prison, and still more on probation, for Josh to have any potential for rehabilitation to the point he can safely live in society again."

Josh's younger brother Jason (pictured left) spoke about his sibling's sentencing on Instagram Stories on May 26. "In my opinion, Judge Timothy L. Brooks was fair in his ruling, giving Josh a sentence that would be considered below the median for the crimes he has committed," the 22-year-old wrote.

Jason Duggar then continued, "Joshua's poor decisions have greatly affected those around him, in particular his wife, seven children, and our family as a whole."

However, he also said, "I will never stop loving my brother, regardless of what he does, just as my savior has forgiven me, so I have forgiven my brother of his wrongdoings!"

As of yet, the rest of the family has not released statements regarding their thoughts and feelings on Josh's sentencing.

In addition to spending 12.5 years in prison, Josh will also be on probation for twenty years upon release. His access to minor children and computers will be heavily restricted.
