Born Heo Min-jin on July 12, 1990, in Seoul, South Korea, ChoA also has an identical twin sister, Way, who is also in the K-pop industry.
ChoA and Way also happen to both be members of the K-pop girl group ‘Crayon Pop’. They together have also formed a sub-unit that comprises only of the twin sisters ‘ChoA & Way’.
Going further back, did you know that ChoA entered into the K-pop industry thanks to her sister? This was revealed in an episode of MBC’s ‘Close Friends’, that ChoA got into ‘Crayon Pop’ on recommendation by her sister.
Crayon Pop initially faced a lackluster debut, reports The Korea Herald. Other than it being commercially unsuccessful, it was also revealed by Chrome Entertainment’s CEO that the unsuccessful debut had even almost bankrupted the company.
Thankfully, Crayon Pop had managed to bounce back on their feet when they caught the attention of Kangin and Shindong of one of South Korea’s top K-pop boy bands, Super Junior, in 2015, reports StarN, and this subsequently helped the group gain much attention.
As part of Crayon Pop, ChoA was involved in songs such as ‘Bar Bar Bar’, ‘Saturday Night’, ‘Bing Bing’ and others.
Crayon Pop became rather successful as a group, as they were even able to have collaborated with international pop acts such as the Norwegian music duo Ylvis and also in touring with Lady Gaga!
Despite the success of Crayon Pop, things fizzled out in 2017 when members decided not to renew their contracts, which included ChoA herself, reports Naver.
Since then, Crayon Pop has officially been declared on hiatus. In the meantime, ChoA has occasionally appeared in K-entertainment and last appeared in KBS2’s ‘The Return of Superman’, reports Allkpop.
Other than being known as a K-pop star, ChoA has also ventured into the acting world. According to Soompi, she had joined up with ParkWith Entertainment and began acting under her given name, Heo Min-jin.
