Catherine, Princess of Wales: her best looks of the past years
Throughout her time with the British royal family, Duchess Catherine has shown to be a woman of excellent taste. Let's have a look at Kate Middleton's most beautiful outfits.
After spending a few months out of the public eye due to illness, Catherin finally returned to public life, this time in a beautiful purple dress during the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in July 2014.
Attending the 2021 Earthshot Prize gala at Alexandra Palace, Prince William and Duchess Catherine looked like they were walking right out of a fashion magazine. The prince sported a dark green velvet suit over a black turtleneck, while Kate Middleton returned to the fabulous lilac Alexander McQueen gown that she had already worn once, over ten years ago, at a 2011 BAFTA event. It is still fashionable!
William and Kate also made a stunning appearance at the premiere of the James Bond movie, 'No Time to Die,' in the London Royal Albert Hall in 2021. The Duchess of Cambridge wore a dress that was absolutely unforgettable.
Duchess Catherine wore a shimmering Jenny Packham gown with metallic sequins, structured shoulders and a sheer cape. She had the media 'Wowing' and even distracted Daniel Craig himself from his own, striking pink velvet suit jacket. It was an iconic look.
It's not the only occasion on which Kate looked fantastic. How about this rainy day in June, when she made even the most common rainbow umbrella look regal? The Duchess visited the Centre for Early Childhood at Kensington Palace and did not need anyone to hold an umbrella for her as she walked over.
US First Lady Jill Biden is quite stylish herself, but she was outshined by Kate Middleton on their visit to Connor Downs Academy in Cornwall. The Duchess wore a fuchsia, fitted Alexander McQueen dress that day.
Jeans also look majestic on the Duchess of Cambridge! She chose a casual look during her visit of the Natural History Museum in June, combining a rose Chloe blazer with blue jeans and sneakers. They enabled her to sit down, cross-legged, with the kids at the museum. It must be said, though, that the blazer costs £1,795 according to the Daily Mail, so the set wasn't that 'dressed-down' after all.
The Duchess is always so good with long coats and coat dresses. This time, during the Beating Retreat ceremony at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, she donned a heavenly blue Catherine Walker coat that brought out her slender figure.
During the same visit to Scotland, in May, she organized a movie night for the local NHS personnel. Opting again for blue, this time with a Holland Cooper tartan trench coat, Kate Middleton wore particularly striking earpieces, coming from the Queen’s Dubai Looped Sapphire Demi-Parure collection.
In summer, while teaming up with U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu for a double game, the Duchess wore a tennis skirt and jacket from the French brand Poivre Blanc. It showed once again that she's comfortable in any look and any setting.
Although she spent part of 2020 inside the palace, the Duchess of Cambridge also went into the country several times to show her support to the people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Whenever she did, Kate Middleton tried to present herself from her most enchanting side.
You may have forgotten it by now, but January was a really difficult month for the royal family. In the second week of January, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle dropped the bombshell that they were leaving their official positions in the royal house. We remember Kate like this: a deep blue hat and brown woolen coat, matching the winter greens of Sandringham.
We didn't know it back then, but this would be one of the few gala appearances by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Kate Middleton wore a stunning ball gown in white and gold by Alexander McQueen. It was the second time she wore this custom-made dress; the first time was at a state dinner in Malaysia in 2012.
Kate Middleton visited the Defence Medical and Rehabilitation Centre in Loughborough together with Prince William, the Prince of Wales, and the Duchess of Cornwall (her in-laws). She wore a navy-blue jacket with military-style buttons and a midi skirt for the occasion. They were designed by the late Alexander McQueen.
Even Kate Middleton's sports outfits look classy, like this set in different green tones at a SportsAid event in London. The Duchess of Cambridge tried out several sports, including taekwondo and running. Her casual look was from Zara, Mango, and Marks & Spencer.
An excellent occasion to wear lots of green was the Cambridges' tour to Ireland. On her first evening in Dublin, Kate Middleton wore a metallic green dress from 'The Vampire's Wife.' According to Good Housekeeping, this gown is worth £1,595.
On the third day of their visit to Ireland, Kate Middleton wore a cute printed dress by Susannah. Her earrings had the shape of shamrocks.
Over the polka-dot midi dress, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a mossy olive overcoat which was completely in line with her three-day "green streak," as Elle called it.
Kate Middleton stole the show on Commonwealth Day with her burgundy coat dress by Catherine Walker and a matching flowery hat. The Duchess's shoes and clutch were of the same color, making it a stylishly monochrome look.
Kate Middleton had worn this striking red coat before, 'Town and Country' magazine notes, when she went to Christmas mass with the family in 2018.
This time, on Commonwealth Day 2020, she made the look all the more stunning with a complex up-do in her hair, its layers of rolls accentuated by the chic hat. It was to be her last public engagement together with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
In March and April, it was lockdown time, with Kate Middleton and Prince William holding their meetings through video calls from Kensington Palace. In this image, they are cheering on a school that remained open during the Easter holiday. The Duchess undoubtedly wears comfy trousers - we're not sure - but she certainly looks radiant in her mustard-color jumper.

In May, Kate Middleton appeared live on air in ITV's "This Morning" with a relaxed, simply brushed stay-at-home hairdo. As for her clothes, USA Today speculated that she "appeared to be wearing a yellow floral silk midi dress by London-based brand Raey," but we cannot be 100% sure.

Then, it was summer and the Duchess of Cambridge could go out and meet people in real life again. She did have to keep a certain physical difference, though - like here, in the Fakenham Garden Centre in Norfolk, where she "dressed down in a £175 gilet, shirt and jeans," The Daily Mail reported. Harper's Bazaar opined that the Duchess looked "seriously chic" that day.
On another occasion in June, Kate Middleton wore a loose, flowery dress with canvas espadrilles. The fabric of the dress was crepe and the brand Marie-Louise.
You could see that she was enjoying the outdoors, as she is known to do, and fashion connoisseurs also noted that she had let her 'mum fringe' (or curtain bangs) grow to ear length.
Kate Middleton helped out at the Sheffield Baby Bank wearing a simple and timeless Susannah dress that The Daily Mail estimated at £1850. Her high heeled shoes of fake snake skin from the brand Tabitha Simmons cost £531. Organizations like Baby Basics in Sheffield provide clothing, bedding, and nappies to parents who cannot afford to buy these themselves.
It was the first time the Duchess wore a facial mask on a royal visit, and the media marvelled at its flowery print. Kate Middleton herself was most of all impressed with the struggles of vulnerable parents during the coronavirus pandemic. She later confessed that she had cried after making this visit.
"Kate Middleton just re-wore her £30 M&S trousers and they're perfect," Cosmopolitan wrote in September, after the Duchess had visited London's Battersea Park to meet parents who received support from NGOs in the pandemic. Middleton is among the few celebrities who don't mind to be seen twice in the same outfit, even if it cost only £30.
Kate Middleton adapted to her surroundings when she visited a group of young scouts in London. She wore skinny jeans and platform hiking boots.
Kate Middleton made an energetic impression at the University of Derby in October. Even though she kept the required physical distance while talking to the students, her gestures and looks show that she was very engaged with the community. She "dressed down," Elle wrote, with a Massimo Dutti blue knit sweater ($219) and high-waist black trousers. Her golden necklace is worth noting because it was custom-made and has the initials of her three children engraved in it.
Once again, Kate Middleton put on an Alexander McQueen coat; this time for her visit to a photo exhibition at Waterloo Station in London. The house of the late McQueen is one of her preferred designers. Even her wedding dress was made by one of its masters.
The slim and elegant Duchess of Cambridge looked impressive on Remembrance Day, wearing a military-style black coat and all-black accessories except for the three poppies on her chest. Hello Magazine says she looked "beautifully understated."
The up-do of Kate Middleton's hair is particularly striking. Britain was already getting used to her lockdown look: the blown-out waves and the mum fringe. But here she's wearing a complex double roll, accentuated by simple pearl earrings.
Arrival in Edinburgh Station on the first day of Prince William and Kate Middleton's December train tour around the country. Anyone wearing this combination of a sky blue Catherine Walker coat with high-heeled suede boots would draw attention on Waverley station, but Kate Middleton looked especially magnificent that way.
She wore a matching mask from the brand Amaia, with the flowery style that has already become characteristic for the Duchess of Cambridge.
Now this is more Kate Middleton's regular style: a long, red Alexander McQueen coat. The Duchess had already worn this bright coat on Waterloo Station in October. On this day, making a train stop in Cardiff, Wales, she combined it with a festive tartan scarf.
Halfway through December, the end of 2020 was approaching, Prince William and Kate Middleton decided to take their three children - George, Charlotte, and Louis - to a special performance of The National Lottery's Pantoland at The Palladium. Kate Middleton donned a long Alessandra Rich dress for the occasion.
As usual, the family of five looked completely attuned to each other's styles, with William in a red jersey, his daughter Charlotte in a cute tartan dress, and the boys Louis and George in woolen coats and sweaters.
