Get to know the participants of Miss Universe 2019

A total of 90 participants are trying to win the crown of Miss Universe 2019. The contest takes place in Atlanta, in the United States, on Sunday December 8.

The current Miss Universe is Catriona Gray of the Philippines. She's going to crown the next queen. Let's have a look at the Asian contestants for this title.

Miss Armenia: Dayana Davtyan

Dayana Davtyan loves graphic design and drawing caricatures. She is a student at the Armenian National University for Architecture. 

Miss Bangladesh: Shirin Akter Shila

Shirin Akter Shila studies at Dhaka University to get a degree in physics. She also works as a model. 

Miss Cambodia: Somnang Alyna

Somnang Alyna is always working to help the children of her country. For her job at NagaWorld Kind Hearts, she visited more than 50 primary schools and gave school supplies to more than 15 million students.

Miss China: Zhu Xin

Zhu Xin has studied Make-up Art and pursues a recycling project called 'Love Life, Green Home.' It helps children become aware of the problems of nature and waste.

Miss Georgia: Tako Adamia

Tako Adamia would like to be an example for the future generations of her country. She has advocated education among its children. Since her country is partly involved in armed conflicts, she is also an informal ambassador for peace. She wants people to see another side of Georgia. 

Miss India: Vartika Singh

Vartika Singh has a Master's degree in Public Health. She also founded Pure Humans, a non-governmental organization that provides medical services to people with low incomes. 

Miss Indonesia: Frederika Cull

Frederika Cull loves dogs and saved more than 100 canines from the Indonesia dog trade. She also founded 'Voice for the Voiceless,' a non-governmental organization that advocates the registration of births and helps obtain birth certificates for children in need.

Miss Israel: Sella Sharlin

Sella Sharlin specialized in Physics and Arabic during high school. Then she went into the army for 3 years and took flying lessons. She ended up in an intelligence team traditionally limited to men. In addition, she trained as a triathlete for 7 years and won first place in her age group at the European Triathlon Champtionship.

Miss Japan: Ako Kamo

Ako Kamo is a student of Linguistics, Translation, and Interpretation. She loves singing, dancing, and acting. In fact, she also studies Multimedia Production. 

Miss Kazakhstan: Alfiya Yersaiyn

Alfiya Yersaiyn works to support movements for the prevention of heart diseases and is a regular blood donor. In five years she sees herself as an art teacher to help children discover their talents. She would like to open a school where children with few resources can study for free. 

Miss Korea: Lee Yeon Joo

Lee Yeon Joo has always been interested in ballet, the violin, the piano, and arts. She studied at the Dukwon Art High School, one of the best art schools in Korea, where she specialized in Oriental Painting. A number of her works have been exhibited. In addition, she is learning about the design of bags.

Miss Laos: Vichitta Phonevilay

Vichitta Phonevila is interested in architecture. She wants to help improve education in rural areas and achieve better conditions for learning. 

Miss Malaysia: Shweta Sekhon

Shweta Sekhon has had a successful modelling career. In her free time, she likes to dance and sing. She would like to study Communication in the future. 

Miss Mongolia: Gunzaya Bat-Erdene

Gunzaya Bat-Erdene is a fervent defender of women's rights, and she is also an ambassador of the Unfriend Movement. She reaches 6.6 million people through her social media and teaches young people about online bullying and cybercrime. 

Miss Myanmar: Swe Zin Htet

Swe Zin Htet loves music and singing. Sometimes she makes her own compositions. She likes to help people and focuses on the prevention of child abuse. 

Miss Philippines: Gazini Ganados

Gazini Ganados has degrees in Health Care Service and Tourism Management. She is also a renowned model in her country. Gazini is devoted to social work and known for her activism for the elderly. In her free time, she loves to do aquatic sports. 

Miss Singapore: Mohanaprabha Selvam

Mohanaprabha Selvam got her degree in Biomedical Science and wants to promote sustainable foods as well as improve the lives of people in her community. She is also a model and public speaker.

Miss Thailand: Fahsai Paweensuda Drouin

Fahsai Paweensuda Drouin loves helping people, and that's why she studied Kinesiology. In addition, she runs a project called ABLE, which helps adapt sports to people with a disability so that they can work on their physical skills and self-esteem. 

Miss Nepal: Pradeepta Adhikari

Pradeepta Adhikari is studying to become a doctor. She has many talents, including debating, dancing, teaching yoga, and sports. 

Miss Turkey: Bilgi Aydogmus

Bilgi Aydogmus is passionate about defending the rights of children. She studied Law and is now finishing up a Master's in Children's Rights. 

Miss Vietnam: Hoang Thuy

Hoang Thuy grew up in a village where women did not have a voice, but the women in her family motivated her to stand up for her convictions. She is a famous model in Vietnam and has frequented international runways as well. 

Miss Australia: Priya Serrao

Priya Serrao represents Australia. She is Indio-Australian and the first Miss Universe Australia with an Indian background. She works as a political consultant for the government and has studied Politics, Law, and International Relations. 

Miss Guam: Sissie Luo

Sissie Luo is the Oceanic Miss of Guam. She is studying at the University of Guam and works at the investment bank of Raymond James. She was a doctor's assistant for a while, and as such gained experience in the medical industry. She would like to work in that field after she finishes her master's degree in Pharmaceutical Administration.

Miss New Zealand: Diamond Langi

Diamond Langi is passionate about fashion. She has a master's degree in Advanced Professional Styling. She uses her talent for style to help young people find their own looks. In addition, she established the Foundation Diamond Langi which raises money "to help those in need."

Miss Belgium: Angeline Flor Pua

Not an Asian and not even an Oceanic country is represented here, but Angeline Flor Pua is worth mentioning because she is of Filipino descent. She has a flying licence and works as a commercial pilot. Angeline is also a fervent advocate for women, diversity, and equality.
