Amy Adams

Amy Adams is one of the big names who appeared on 'The Office'. For the first time, she played the guest role of a woman in whom both Michael (Steve Carell) and Dwight (Rainn Wilson) are interested.

Amy Adams' second appearance

Her second appearance was in episode 4 of season 2 when Amy Adams played Jim's girlfriend. Together, the pair ensured hilarious moments as he tried to protect her from his colleagues' uninhibited behavior.

Jim Carrey

After Michael Scott announced his departure from Dunder Mifflin, several candidates appeared willing to fill his position as manager. One of them was The Fingerlakes Guy, played by Jim Carrey, in episode 24 of the seventh season.

Will Arnett

In the same episode, Will Arnett played Fred Henry, a competitor of Jim Carrey's character, who demonstrated that he was not so interested in the role.

Dakota Johnson

The diva from 'Fifty Shades of Grey' appears in 'The Office' in the last episode of the series. She comes in as an accountant who replaces Kevin Malone (Brian Baumgartner) after he is fired.

Dakota Johnson told Vanity Fair that she felt like she didn't belong in the series' final episode: "I somehow got myself into being in the series finale of 'The Office' because I was a fan of 'The Office,' of course."

Idris Elba

Actor Idris Elba first appeared in the episode 'The Boss' in the fifth season of the series. He brought to life Charles Miner, the new vice president who took over after the resignation of Ryan Howard (BJ Novak).

Evan Peters

Evan Peters appeared in the seventh season's episode 'Nepotism'. He played Luke Cooper, Michael Scott's nephew and the new, incompetent intern at Dunder Mifflin.

Ricky Gervais, one of the creators of 'The Office'

Actor Ricky Gervais is one of the creators of the original version of 'The Office' in Britain. He appears in the original series and in the American 'Office' as David Brent, the manager of a company who's very similar to Michael Scott.

Two Ricky Gervais appearances

Gervais had two appearances in the series. The first, in the 13th episode of the seventh season, 'The Seminar', showed a brief meeting between David and Michael. His second appearance was in the last episode of the same season, 'Search Committee', in which his character is one of the competitors to fill the position left by Michael.

Kathy Bates

Kathy Bates had quite an extensive guest role in the sixth season of 'The Office.' She appeared in eight episodes as Jo Bennett, the company's new CEO after Dunder Mifflin was sold to the glitzy corporation Saber.

Will Ferrell

Will Ferrell played Deangelo Vickers, an employee who served as manager for a short period. The character was in four episodes of the seventh season: 'Training Day', 'Michael's Last Dundies', 'Goodbye, Michael' and 'The Inner Circle'.

Timothy Olyphant

Timothy Olyphant, known as the sheriff in 'Deadwood,' appeared in 'The Office' as Danny Cordray, a well-known and competent salesman in the city of Scranton. The actor made two appearances on the series, in two episodes of the seventh season: 'The Sting' and 'Costume Contest'.

Stephen Colbert

In the fifth episode of the last season, 'Here Comes Treble', Stephen Colbert passed by 'The Office'. In the plot, he was Broccoli Rob, a singer who comes into conflict with Andy as he claims credit for several songs and the creation of the high school band.

Bob Odenkirk

During the series' pre-production period, Bob Odenkirk auditioned and was among the possible actors to play Michael Scott. In the end, as we know, that role went to Steve Carell. However, Odenkirk made his presence felt in the series by participating in the 16th episode of the ninth season, entitled 'Moving On'. There, he played Mark Franks, a figure identical to Michael Scott.
