The power of celebrity endorsement

Celebrities have been promoting products for many, many years. Companies are willing to pay big money to get the endorsement of much-loved athletes, singers, and actors. When we buy products that the stars love, us common folk feel just a little closer to their lives of glitz and glamour.

Celebrities make big money to promote all kinds of products

However, sometimes it seems that celebrities will do anything for money! Join us for a look at some of the most bizarre and most hilarious products that celebrities have endorsed over the years!

Cristiano Ronaldo - Facial Fitness Pao

Cristiano Ronaldo has earned a reputation of being among the European soccer players who has done the most advertisements. Ronaldo has been criticized for being all about the money, so it isn't really surprising he accepted a contract to promote this bizarre Japanese contraption.

Facial Fitness Pao

In 2014, Ronaldo was featured in an ad campaign and promotional video for the Facial Fitness Pao. An unusual device held in the mouth, and by bopping your head up and down, you are meant to tone your facial muscles all in the hopes of keeping you young and beautiful looking. The commercial featuring Ronaldo on YouTube is PRICELESS!

Kim Kardashian

The Kardashians seem willing to promote and partner up with almost any brand so long as the $$$$ is good. However, seeing Kim Kardashian promoting toilet paper just doesn't seem on brand.

Charmin toilet paper

Yes, that's right, Kim Kardashian was the spokesperson for Charmin toilet paper, you know, the one with the cute little bears. As part of her deal with Charmin, Kim Kardashian even appeared at such elegant events as the opening of a public restroom in New York City. The money must have been really good to get glam Kim to do that!

Ashton Kutcher

In this case, the product and the celebrity pairing make sense. Pop Chips and Ashton Kutcher seem like a logical choice.

Pops chips

The logic ends with the creators of the commercial and Ashton Kutcher's agent --how could they not see what a BAD idea the concept for this commercial was? Getting Kutcher to wear blackface and pretend to be an Indian man in 2012 was essentially a horrendous tone-deaf idea. Yikes!

Ivana Trump

Remember the milk campaign ads from the 90s? They were legendary! I used to love seeing celebrities I knew in my newest issue of Seventeen with that big, white milk moustache.

Milk

However, I never saw this one of Ivana Trump...and all I can say is ewww... This picture makes one's mind go to places regarding Donald and Ivana Trump's relationship that are best not explored!

Kathy Griffin

Poop is important! While squatty potties are basically overpriced footstools, I see no problem with a celebrity seeing the benefit of this product

Squatty Potty

...but I am not sure how much the company would have to pay me to be forever immortalized as "the poop lady," as Kathy Griffin is now thanks to this ad campaign! Well, that's until the brand dropped her after her anti-Trump photoshoot. Ouch.

'Conspiracy to assassinate the president:' Kathy Griffin unaware 'how serious' case against her was

Hulk Hogan

Poor Hulk Hogan, he tried so hard with so many different products and failed more than once. However, the Hulkster Cheeseburger may have been one of his greatest fails.

Hulkster Cheeseburger

A pre-cooked, mystery meat burger with "cheese" (reviewers said it was more akin to plastic than cheese), that could be microwaved for your quick burger needs was just not what the world needed. It lasted about a year on the market before being discontinued.

JLS

The amount of money needed to be offered to have a face put on a package of c o n d o m s would need to be VERY substantial!

Durex

Well, the British boyband, runners-up on 'The X Factor,' must have received a very nice offer from Durex. How else can we explain their custom range of Durex condoms that have a picture of each band member's face on the box?

Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg is hilarious, and the humour she brought to this delicate subject for the Poise ad campaign is excellent.

Poise

However, becoming the face of an adult incontinence product... is a tough one. On the one hand, it is something that we needn't be ashamed of... on the other... who wants to be associated with incontinence???

Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg is known for consuming a particular herbal remedy that gives people the munchies, and Hot Pockets might be among the top ten best nibbles for stoners, so it makes sense that the performer would promote this microwavable delicacy.

Hot Pockets

What doesn't really make sense is the fact that Snoop let the brand take his 2004 hit 'Drop It Like It's Hot' and turn it into a jingle for Hot Pockets. The ad features a spoof of Snoop Dog's video called 'Pocket Like It's Hot,' and it is just super....weird. Why Snoop Dog? Why?

Mr. T

"I pity the fool...who doesn't buy the Flavorwave Turbo!" Well, at least that is what we imagine Mr. T is saying in this photo! From Mr. T cereal to his very own action figure, everyone's favorite member of the A-Team has never had any qualms about using his name to earn some advertising dollars.

Flavorwave Turbo

So although many Mr. T fans were disappointed to see him doing an infomercial for a cooking device, and let's be honest, it IS an odd pairing, we aren't surprised. Surely Mr. T has bills to pay like everyone else!

Ozzy Osbourne

Whenever you think of Ozzy Osbourne, the first thing that comes to mind of course, is butter... uhhh NOT! There are many, many items that Ozzy would make the perfect spokesperson for, yet somehow he ended up promoting imitation butter.

I Can't Believe It's Not Butter!

The creators of the commercial that Ozzy Osbourne did at least had a clever idea: Ozzy and an Ozzy impersonator played around with the fact that the margarine in question is, in fact, a butter 'impersonator.' Cute but still a very unusual pairing!!

Kiss

Are you a die-hard Kiss fan? Do you have an extra $4000 lying around? Then you are in luck! You can rest in eternal peace in true style in an official Kiss Kasket, decorated with a Kiss logo and pictures of the band. Gene Simmons even said, "I love livin', but this makes the alternative look pretty damn good."

Kiss Kasket

The guitarist of Pantera and Damageplan Dimebag Darrell and his brother Vinny Paul, Pantera's drummer, were even buried in these elegant resting places. If it's good enough for them, surely it is good enough for you too!

Sylvester Stallone

Sylvester Stallone's high protein pudding doesn't even seem like a real product, and if you can find the episode of 'Larry King Live' where Stallone is promoting the product, it seems even more like a spoof!

Pudding

However, like so many others, Stallone has no problem using his name to make a buck, and if you search the internet, you may even get lucky and still be able to find this delicacy!

Jackie Chan

Perhaps as he ages, Jackie Chan needs to find new sources of income? That is the only reason I can think of as to why the martial arts legend would promote a British high street department store!

Woolworths

The commercial features Jackie, and two Woolworths stuffed mascots who go shopping after Jackie tells them they are naked. It ends in an epic martial arts battle between Chan and mascots. This 2008 commercial is just ODD!

Muhammad Ali

In the 1970s, one of Muhammed Ali's first partnerships was with D-Con Roach traps. It was a very unusual pairing indeed; perhaps the company thought if anybody could beat the indestructible cockroach, it would be Muhammed Ali?

Roach Traps

Well, luckily for Ali, many, much more attractive partnerships would come his way later in life.
