Bray Wyatt a three-time world champion in the WWE passed away on the 25th August 2023

Long term illness

According to reports by the BBC, Wyatt had been dealing with a long-term illness following catching COVID earlier this year and struggling to overcome the longterm implications.

Complications with COVID

Per reports, Wyatt had dealt with complications with his heart following a bout of COVID earlier in 2023.

Looked to be recovering well

Per reports from WrestleTalk.com, Wyatt had been struggling with the illness for some time, but seemed to be recovering well and showing positive signs in recent times.

Nearing a return

Some reports even suggested Wyatt was set to return to the WWE imminently before his fatal heart attack.

Cause of death confirmed

Early reports had suggested Wyatt had died from a heart attack, this has not been confirmed by his family yet.

Doctor's advice

Following his battle with COVID and subsequent heart issues, Wyatt was told by doctors to wear an external defibrillator device to help manage any cardiac issues he may be experiencing.

Not wearing the defibrillator

At the time of his death, Wyatt was not wearing his defibrillator. It was later found in his car per reports from The Sun.

Had been napping

According to police reports, it was Wyatt's fiance JoJo Offerman who noticed there was an issue with Wyatt after he didn't wake up from a nap at the expected time.

Attempted CPR

JoJo Offerman's mother attempted to resuscitate Wyatt using CPR whilst Offerman called for emergency services.

Announced by Triple H

WWE executive and former wrestler Triple H announced Wyatt’s passing on X.com, saying, “Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda - also known as Bray Wyatt - unexpectedly passed earlier today.”

Wrestling family

Bray Wyatt, real name Windham Rotunda is from a wrestling family, his grandfather Blackjack Mulligan, father Mike Rotunda, and younger brother Bo Dallas all wrestled professionally.

Mick Foley remembers Wyatt

Another former WWE Superstar, Mick Foley also wrote a tribute for Wyatt, saying, “I thought so highly of Bray Wyatt... He was a true visionary; one of the most compelling presences that wrestling has ever seen.”

Fued with John Cena

The Wyatt Family were announced to the wrestling world in 2013 when they terrorized the WWE, especially targeting main man John Cena, even interrupting a title fight at one point.

Cena releases a statement

John Cena also released a statement via X.com in which he said, “My heart goes out to the entire Rotunda family. Windham brought the best out of me in so many ways. I’m forever grateful for the moments we shared. A sad day for all those he reached around the world. RIP.”

Survived by his family

Bray Wyatt is survived by his wife, Joseann Offerman and their two children.
